Let's say R1 is on 1B. Batter hits pop fly infield to 2B. R1 makes contact with 2 baseman trying to catch it. Does this really constitute calling batter an runner out.

You misinterpret my position...I stated that the post INDICATES incidental/unintentional contact - I made no statement of what the post actually says, but merely interpreted it in its entirety...the description of the post, and the following question to whether it constitutes an out, points in that direction, and seems to imply a very minor incident, not an egregious attempt to both interfere and break up a DP.  I also clearly state it depends on how far R1 is off the base...by extension this implies a question to F4's location, since their locations intersect.  It's more important to know R1's distance from the bag, since the throw from F4 will be significantly faster than the runner.

I also never suggested the DP call was not up to the umpire...I simply stated that in one ruleset intent doesn't matter - which was your specific question that I answered -  so the threshold for the umpire to determine a DP is lower....the ump doesn't need to determine, in FED, if R1 interfered "in order to break up a double play" - the ump only needs to determine if the DP was possible/probable had the INT not occurred.    There's a good chance it was.   But, yes, HTBT.

my response was a generic one to Lou B not the OP.  I knew I should have quoted what I was responding to. 
I thought he was saying if F4 didn’t catch it and R1 INT’d.
