Taught in baseball from the earliest ages. Had two or three plays like that a year.

Imagine the social media uproar if an umpire made such a bonehead play.

A few weeks ago I had two "bone headed runners" that I thought were going to turn into something, but thankfully didn't.

The first was a kid who hit a double and then "celebrated" his way off the base while striking a pose.  I thought, "Man, the defense just missed an easy out."

The second was even goofier ... on an attempted double play, the defense got the runner going to second, but did not get the runner at first.  As the retired runner was jogging off the field, he decided to bear hug the runner on first and carried him about 5 feet off first base.  I just watched, waiting ... but the defense never made the play.

Yes, stay awake!

A new one I hadn’t seen yet…..Jump roping after the double. R2 is bouncing on the base and gets tagged. He was very slightly bouncing and not actually coming off the bag. Had he been a little higher, defense was actually paying attention with a tag. It’ll happen some time though.

Had one last week R1 , batter hits a Slow roller to F5 and F5 bobbles it a little makes a slightly close play at 2nd, However instead of sliding R1 steams in with too much speed and upon hitting the brakes he leaves his back left foot on the bag and starts to lean over his now extended right leg trying to stop but unsuccessfully F6 with the ball hits him with a tag as he passes the point of no return on his balance and the back foot starts to lift off the bag.

I was sitting there watching the while thing unfold and soon as the foot picked up.  OUT!!!!!
