Good advice on the west vest in the other thread, though I don't have time for any minor adjustments before the game tomorrow (first game ever). Glad I spent the money, I wore someone else's gear to do a less meaningful game I don't count and it was bad, couldn't walk or move other than like a penguin.

My question is, on the matching charcoal shin guards. How should those be adjusted. I cross the bottom straps and I have tried the top straps both crossed and stright, neither is comfortable and even at the loosest setting they bite the back of my knee to the point where I know after I game I will have some kind of issue. Also, where should my knee rest in them, how tight should they be, the top kind protrudes out and I have to really sinch it up to get it to sit flat, that hurts and can't be right.

Cross the bottom 2 and only buck the 1st one on the top, makes a world of difference. Now if your only doing one games of 7 IN max, I buckle all, but if I have multiple games I buckle all but the very top one. BTW I do love these leggings.

Leave the top one undone (hang the strap down the inside of your leg, under the straps from the next two down), cross the next two and buckle the lowest straight across.

If you like that, just remove the top strap.

Well, it was funny. In the middle of my first game wearing them the top strap on my left leg came undone. More comfy behind the knee, but had the same chaffing that I had on the other leg at the end of the game.

Buy yourself some leggings...you will thank me...:BD:

I straight strap all four straps, no crossing. I've had a big issue with one of the straps ripping apart the back side of my knee. One of the seams. If the fold and stitch were away from the knee, this wouldn't be an issue. And maybe that is something I can fix myself.

Otherwise, I love this guards. They've done their job already.

Well, last time I crossed both the top and bottom set of straps. The bottom ones were comfortable so that will stay, but I will try straight across on the top ones today. But I'm only doing three innings before I change positions with a first time umpire so I might not get a good idea. It's ok, it's just a scrimmage.

i cross the bottom two and have the top two pretty loose. I wear long baseball socks under them. I noticed that one of the main things that irritated me was the short piece extra elastic that sticks out from the buckles. I folded this over and stitched it and now they feel much better

I have the Honigs K30s, and I've had no problems with them for four years.

Well, one problem - the closed cell padding on the back gets slimy wet in the first inning or two. Does anybody make a SG with padding similar to the WV Gold? Removeable preferably, but at least covered with a porous fabric?

Yes, both the Wilson charcoal and the West Vest triple knee leg guards have the removable padding that is almost identical to the WV gold. I have the WV triple knee and love them. Some sites have pics of the charcoal in the old style without the removable padding, but they switched over to it last year, IIRC. Just make sure that check before you order that they have the newer style before laying down your money.
