At the high school varsity level do softball batting helmets all have to match? Can they all just be the same color and not same brand?

Curious, what's the context of the question? Is the coach pushing for everyone to get the same helmets?

Others can quote FED (high school governing rules body) better than I can since I don't do HS but, if this is a rule - which I strongly doubt - it's never enforced from all the games I've attended.

2020 NFHS Softball rule 1-6 (and its following 7 articles) do not limit the color(s) of the batting helmet to be used—it only talks about safety features. It is possible to read rule 3-2-5 as including helmets even though it does not actually mention helmets--

3-2 ART. 5 . . . Headwear (caps, visors, headbands, ribbons, etc.) may be mixed. If worn, they must be white, black, beige or school colors (the colors are not required to be the same for team members). The logo may be any color. Flat items, no longer than 2 inches, used to control the hair, such as bobby pins, barrettes and hair clips, are permitted. Plastic visors, bandannas and hairbeads are prohibited.

2019 NFHS Softball Case Book Play 3.2.5 Situation B:  Several players on a team are wearing caps, while others are wearing visors and headbands. RULING:  Provided the caps, visors and headbands are white, black, beige or any school color, there is no violation.

In addition, shoes do not have to match.

Most players are going to wear their travel team helmet, unless the school has the funds for HS specific helmets.

I've never run across any (non-pro, non-college) league, tournament or organization that requires softball helmets to even match in color, let alone brand.

Even the club organization where I coached we told players/parents the exact helmet they could buy, but it wasn't mandatory as it was their own expense...they also ended up doing it because they didn't want to be different.   But if we had affiliate callups or new joiners any safety certified helmet was acceptable.

In fact, our manufacturer did stop selling in our colors after one year, so new players had to buy a new brand, so we did have a mix of brand as well.
