"When reviewing a play at home plate, if the Replay Official determines both that the runner did not touch home plate and that the fielder did not tag the runner (or, in the case of a force play, did not touch home plate), the Replay Official shall rule the runner "safe" at home plate unless the defensive Manager appeals the failure of the runner to touch home plate prior to the Crew Chief making contact with the Replay Official."

Sorry, that's bizarre and idiotic. Why on earth would he appeal a base missed by a runner who was called out on the tag?

So in real time the defense has an out by tag and a missed base in their hip pocket. Time is called and they know a replay review is coming. So they have to run out and intercept the crew chief and tell him they want to appeal.  Then the crew chief aborts his walk and beckons everyone into position to make the ball live etc.  I'd like to see that happen.

So let's assume somehow the appeal happens. If R3 touched the plate, but was tagged out, does PU rule "safe, but stil lout"

Looks like the writers, in their infinite wisdom, never took into account a missed tag, a missed plate, and an out call.

Well, the replay hasn't happened yet so We could still have an out on replay confirmation. But it will look like a goat rope when and if it happens.

I predict a little "tweaking" to the way that rule currently reads.

I'm a little confused as to why the PU moved behind F2 to make this call. Just a poor split second decision or does anyone think he made a good adjustment? Looks like all he's got is asses and elbows to me.
