NFHS rules. Runners on 1st and 3rd. Right hand pitcher.

Pitcher was working out of the stretch, comes to a stop, steps straight toward 3rd base and fakes a throw.    Coach wanted a balk but in my decision that the clear step toward 3rd base was a legal feint. Was I correct?

It's been a few years now and we still have people who don't know this rule difference... There is something definitely wrong with society

Not sure about it being a problem with society, but what gets me is that the majority of those that consider themselves at least somewhat knowledgeable about the sport still think the MLB rule is "you can't fake to 3rd AND then throw it first". I hear this all the time, and when I say, "It's the feint to 3rd that's illegal, a throw or feint to 1st does not have to accompany the feint to 3rd for it to be illegal"... they usually look at me like I'm nuts
