Thanks everyone for the replies looks like it will be the Force3 I go with. This season I upgraded my CP from a diamond Ix to a WV Gold which I bought for $50 used and I upgraded my all star helmet to a Wilson Shock FX 2.0. I am now complete on my upgrades for a while. l am looking to upgrade my Shin Guards for next year. I need advice as I have heard great things about the WV platinum's and the diamonds but I am really interested in the Force3. What is everyone's advice/opinion on the best Shin Guard for the money.

just because he is in middle school he is allowed to complain about the strike zone and act out 8 times without anything. I am sorry I just can't agree with this.
-
IMO 8 times is way too many times after the first time it needs to be addressed. Why did you let him do it 8 times?
-
It's youth call strikes. Never seen anyone get in trouble for calling strikes as long as your consistent both ways.

Was this a regional game you was doing?

NFHS rules. Runners on 1st and 3rd. Right hand pitcher. Pitcher was working out of the stretch, comes to a stop, steps straight toward 3rd base and fakes a throw. Coach wanted a balk but in my decision that the clear step toward 3rd base was a legal feint. Was I correct?

For the first time ever in 10 years was umpiring a "really bad" game where the score was 16-4 6th inning and bases loaded with 2 outs count was 3-2 and had a batter catch the pitch. The pitch would had either went behind him or hit him. I was the BU and the PU was a rookie that wasn't sure what to call. We met and I had never seen it and really wasn't sure either. We decided to call him out for interfering with a live pitch. After conferring with more veteran umpires it was determined it should be called depending on where the ball was at and he should had been awarded 1st base. I admit I screwed up but had never seen nothing like this before nor heard of anything like this before. Has anyone had this situation before?

This play reminds me of a call I had in the last week of the regular season. I was inside had a play at second and rang the kid out. The coach, who is well known for always running his mouth, comes running out of the dugout screaming he has to tag him with the ball. I informed him he had the ball and the kid was out. That didn't satisfy him as he had stepped onto the field at this point and kept saying he didn't have the ball. I walked toward him told him it was a judgement call and he wasn't arguing that I then told him he didn't ask for time and I didn't grant him time and to get off my field. So he steps into fair territory and says I am off and I respond with lets play ball. Never heard another word out of him.

1 out runners on 1st and 2nd swinging strike on batter catcher drops the ball runner going to 3rd and the catcher never makes a throw. Batter had one foot in box and one out and UIC calls runner on third out for interference on batter as he said catcher couldn't throw due to him being in the way.
-
100% confident not malicious the ball was in the glove and he did tag him. Just wandering if I could have used rule 8.4.2c in this case of him not avoiding the fielder
-
He did have the ball in his glove
-
HS game ground ball to short makes a high throw to 1st. 1st baseman jumps to catch it and the runner is running down the line not in the running lane and plows over 1st baseman not malicious but never tried to avoid contact. HC for the batting team wanted to complain about not being touched with the glove which he did. Guess my question is even if he wasn't touched by the glove would he still had an out for running over the 1st baseman?
-
well im not postive but if they have no coach I figure the game is over coach screwed up so must pay the penalty. Another reason I didn't toss was I wasn't 100% sure of that rule as I have never had it or heard of it.
-
nah been around too long for that won't do it but have learned from my mistake
-
Well I probably screwed up but considering I have this same team 2 more times with both games being double headers so I am sure I will get the chance to get rid of him and won't let it pass me by if he acts this way again.
-
I agree I should had tossed him but when I told him to stop he did so I don't know hindsight is always 20/20
-
Last night was the closest I have came to tossing a coach in 10 years. Had a call at 2nd and me standing right on top of it he didn't think his boy got tagged and he did. Only thing he really said was he didn't tag him but it was how he said it. He just started screaming it. Gresham said he came onto the field but I didn't see him I was jogging to the outfield. Then had a high throw to first and a collison and I called his runner out. Thats when he started coming onto the field screaming hows he out he wasn't tagged I am already losing don't wanna get cheated. That was when I told him I had heard enough out of him and that he needed to get back into his box and shut up that I wasn't going to hear anything else out of him. If I had tossed him the game would had ended at that moment as he didn't have an assistant coach. Not fair for his kids to suffer because of him. Even his players was apologizing to both me and my partner. In hindsight I should had tossed him with the cheating comment and if I had it to do over I prolly would had but as a coach I have also used the cheating comment once and received a very strict warning.

Have you ever lost sight of the ball on fair/foul?
coachump4 replied to ump570's topic in Situations
Actually had this happen this year I never even seen the ball land just seen where the fielder was and he was on the line in right. I verbalized foul but not loudly runner stayed at 1st and catcher said that was a great hit. I agreed with him even though I had no clue. Couple fans kept saying I think he called foul and I loudly said I call "fair". Fans really had no clue, no complaint from coaches and all was well. Never was questioned on why I didn't just point.
