Completely the right call.

Agreed...coach probably tried "psst"...with a whispered "hey...run" first before resorting to the push to get the kid's attention.

Funny thing is most of the argument on the youtube channel is about the umpire not granting time...like they think it's an entitlement.

Oh yeah. Not only the kids that get amped up in those big games.

I've been there to the point that I just started yelling "STEAL" when they didn't get the hint from signs, motions, or lower volume verbals.

If Time had been granted, then R3 doesn’t score regardless. The coach himself noticed that Time wasn’t granted, because he starts that anxious quivering, seeming to wish & will his R3 to make it to the plate unnoticed.

Any blame falls squarely and solely on the coach. Period.

To blame the umpires is akin to someone stealing and choking on cookies, then blaming the baker – “If you hadn’t have made those cookies, then I wouldn’t have stolen them off your countertop!”

Of course, but the game wouldn't be over...the home team would have the tying run on third, and winning run on second, and get to live for at least one more batter.

And that is, indeed, on the coach.   I frankly think it was a risky move anyway...that would have been a pretty ridiculous way to end the game to send your player who represents the tying run (while the pitcher is holding the ball and the catcher is at the plate) to get thrown out at home to end the game...on the hope and a prayer that they wouldn't notice in time.

You the tying and winning runs in scoring position, and the defense is obviously falling apart at this point.  Take your chances with the batter.

All completely unnecessary at / in a plate meeting.

Totally agree!!  I conduct the plate meeting with the idea that coaches/managers know what they are doing?   Do they?  Not always, of course not.  When they show me they DON'T know what they are doing, is when I step in.
