Batter hits a slow ground ball to F5.  R3, off on the swing, touches home plate before R2 is tagged out at third base.  The batter runner has not yet reached first base.

Yes because R2 is a tag play and not a force out.

Surely we all do.  But when you use that terminology with a coach, he can infer some things that are not true:

• An appeal (which does not require a tag of the runner) is therefore not a timing play.
• If a forced runner is tagged (a "tag play"), it is a time play.
