We don't like the 7.13 rule (or whatever rules number it is) So let's not enforce it.

It's not so much about enforcing it ...it's "what is it?"  The NY review interpretations aren't coinciding with each other.

I'll ask you the same question I asked Larry.

Are you calling OBS on F2 on the play posted in the OP at a HS Varsity game?

For the most part they are coinciding. It is just like any other review. Sometimes they get it wrong.

Ok, ...that's fair ..........

but what about my question to you?

Hasn't it always been a rule in HS?

Why won't you answer the question?

I enforce every rule in the book...

I will play moderator here.

Take this fight outside.

It's not a fight Jack, ...it's an easy question that Larry answered, ...but Rolando won't.   It just infuriates me when people on this site ONLY back the call on the field in the MLB ...no one EVER wants to discuss the alternative that maybe they got it wrong.  Or, ..maybe the rule isn't written the best, or being enforced right, or anything that goes against an MLB ruling.  Think for yourselves!  (NOT directed at you, Jack)

Come on guys (Rolando) ...

Discuss this!  Jump in ....let's talk about it.  Why are we here? :)

Ok ...here is a still from the "definitive view" video up on MLB.

It shows Flowers has his leg in front of the plate...with the ball....and R3 is still 3 feet outside the dirt circle.   Again ... I don't think most of us are calling this OBS in HS, yes? no?

I know Rolando does things purposely to bait people, especially me.  It's old hat.  Trust me ... I'm not pissed, ...I'm using his behavior to inspire others NOT to do that, and join in a discussion.

The Nats and Rangers plays were similar in that the throw took F2 to where he was...Good no calls. On the White Sox play, F2 took the throw from his right while his left foot was on the other side of the plate and F2 cannot block the pathway...as he is attempting to score..

In this freeze frame, F2 has caught the ball and he can legally block HP now. For this to be a 7.13(2) violation, R3 has to be considered  to be "attempting to score" prior to this instant. It is hard to argue that R3 isn't attempting to score, but how close does R3 need to be to HP to be considered "attempting to score" for 7.13(2) purposes? Shouldn't the attempting to score (proximity) criteria be similar to tag attempt (proximity) criteria for an out of the basepath violation. IMO, the R3/F2 distance seems too large to get a 7.13(2) call.

I am so glad that IR review is helping to eliminate officiating controversies.
