Looks like he drifted just a tad to the the left before the ball hit him.

I don't see the drift - but that was a huge shot. He was in the slot and got that freak shot straight back from an inside pitch.

 

I do have to comment that it is great the way the players go to him right away after the hit and called for the trainer. At that level, they all have a job to do, and there is a mutual respect for each other (for the most part). Kudos to the catcher and batter.
