When a lot of you guys work tournaments do you guys have different color uniforms for working them?  Ie Red Black Cream White.

Also, do you have some advice on how to pack for a long day of games in the heat?  I am starting to work them more consistently and do not have a specific routine.

If you know who you are working with, contact them before the game and agree on colors so you don't have to bring so many.  Otherwise, bring them.  Bring extra undershirts to change them -- the outer shirts you can usually wear more than once.

I have several different colors.

Carry extra t-shirts and socks. and change every couple games.

Start Hydrating a couple days before tournament. O.N.E. Coconut Water is great for hydrating. Lot better for you than Gatorade and Powerade. Drink some before you go on the field.

I have 7 softball games tomorrow.  Haven't worked softball in about a year. They needed someone Babe Ruth Certified!

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

No alcohol the night before.   Start hydrating AT LEAST 24 hours before game 1.  Nothing sugary .... protien bars and banana's between each game (either) ...you'll be fine!  Sunblock and motrin 1/2 way through each day.  Mentally prepare yourself for LONG DAYS and it's not too bad!

Who on God's green earth would wear red?  Does that shirt come with a bulls-eye and floppy clown shoes?

My limit is 2 games per day, but I have my van packed for the rest of the millennium - spare t's and compression shirts, cold gear, heat gear, socks, compression shorts, towels, etc.  Have my Finnerty bucket locked and loaded.  2 shirts each of black, navy, pro blue, powder blue, cream and white.  Extra pants (actually a pair of combos that I don't use since I got my base and plate pants).   Don't even get me going about shoes, CPs and shins.  My golf clubs are in there, too.

I'm like Robert DiNiro in "Heat".  I can be gone in 15 minutes flat.

And since I'm only doing 2 games, @Thunderheads suggestion of no alcohol (gasp!) the night before - not so much.  I will, however, on hot days fill a small cooler with ice water and spirits of ammonia - Gator water for you southerners.

@JaxRolo - you actually certified for Babe Ruth softball?  Seriously?  Dude, 283 games last year and you're looking for SOFTBALL games?  @Jocko - have a talk with this boy.

For whatever reason guys our here like to wear red.  I hate it and have refused to purchase one.  I just bring my whole allotment of colors as you never know whether your partner might get switched on you or they may need you at a different field.

I bring a cooler (with water, propel, fruit, and a sandwhich), sunscreen, and if it;'s really hot a towel to soak in the water and cool my face and neck down between innings/games.  I've also begun this year wearing dri-fit shirts and socks (over the knee).  One thing I can say with conviction is that being comfortable is imminently important.  I used to be pretty cheap and smitty with my attire.  I found a pair of steel tow black boots at Payless for $15 and wore them for a long time.  I wasn't doing enough games to warrant the $100+ investment in plate shoes.  I also wore normal black sock and cotton t-shirts for an undershirt.  Since I've switched to plate shoes, over-the-knee dri-fit socks, and compression shirts it's made a huge difference.

Seriously @asek35 ........

I woudln't ..... Way back in 2011 I bought one because my tourney partner had one and it came in handy when we ran out one day during a marathon tourney.  It's only seen the light of day 2 times ....so probably not worth it.
