Did my first game with the zig plates today. Had the Gerry Davis ones 10yrs ago. Wow they are great. Do the base zigs feel the same or better? If so I want a pair. I'm now wearing nike diamond trainers in the field cause I got them at dicks. My zig plates are more comfortable than the trainers!

I have 3 pair of both the zig black plate and base. I love them! I find the base more comfortable because they weigh less but otherwise they fit the same.

However be aware that the thin leather strip connecting the plate to the shoe will easily break with normal wear and tear, do not freak out as you can easily super glue Velcro to it and your shoes are as good as new.

Ha, I use black asic brand sneakers on the bases, serve me just fine I don't need to dish out $75 for base shoes I just use the aforementioned sneakers that I already have, plate shoes I ponied up for they need to be special protective shoes, base shoes not as important to me

I did the reverse. The other day I switched from the Magistraits (just as comfortable & Light as Zigs) to my Gerry Davis Patent Leather plate shoes. OMG.....I had not used them in three year but the field was crap so I brought them out. How did I use them for so long. HEAVY....big....I could not make it to the 45 ft line....I felt slow and old.....

I got the zig base shoes and besides them being narrow at first it took about 4 games to break in but now they are ok. a very light shoe. I still prefer my Reebok football shoe to the Zigs just because cleaning in those little holes is a pain in the butt.....

Mr, how do the old magistrates fit compared to the reezig's? I have thought about getting magistrates for football and the magistrate plates shoes. I have tried on the reezig's and love the fit but can get the old magistrates at great prices. But I may just spring for the B/W zigs for football.

I have the zigs and love them.  Eventually I'll shell out for the base zigs but since plate shoes are more important I went with those first.

I have size 12 for the plate, but had to send the base zigs back for size 13. Anybody else have this problem?

I just wish they came in wider sizes.

I'm normally an 8.5E but I have to size up to 4E for those damn NB shoes.

Should I get the zig magistrates, zig energy matte, or the zig energy patent leather for the bases?

The magistrates, don't even consider the patent leather ones, they are solely designed for basketball and if you even attempt to wear them in baseball you will be eating turf quite often.

Found these for $70 and 6 bucks shipping.

That's a pretty good deal, if you are not in a rush Baseballsavings.com typically offers some 15% off and free shipping coupons, I think I paid $67 for my base zigs.

Same exact thing I had to do, I'm a 12 in all shoes but the new zigs, heck I'm even a 12 in the running shoe zigs but I had to size up to 13's and the 13's fit like a slipper now.

That's me. 12 in everything but needed a 13 plate shoe.

@ - they will. If you take care of them. And FFS, if you intend to be taken seriously by your assignors and peers, don't wear "sneakers" for base shoes. Save a couple game fees and get some Nike Air Diamond Trainers if you dont wanna pony up the cake.

I bought my base zigs and my plate shamus from baseballsavings.com and for both pairs SHIPPED I paid less than $100.

Anyone know where they have the reebok zigs (low) black and white plate shoes in 9 1/2 at? Everywhere I'm looking they are saying there out.. Need some ASAP like by this coming up Friday June 13th

I highly recommend these and their base shoes.  I have the platinum shins and they give me good enough ankle protection to be able to wear the low top plates.  Some umps have told he they dont like the low top plates.
