I have used and repaired and trashed and replaced about four or five of the crappy line up card holders the umpire equipment sellers supply for our use.  Honig's/Gerry Davis/Ump-Attire.  They all are junk.  At least they don't cost very much.

I reviewed the six page topic thread on this site about a longer length line up card holder but decided it wasn't worth it because of the cost, excessive shipping costs AND it was still constructed out of crappy vinyl over cardboard.

I considered constructing my own out of a leather checkbook cover or a pocket sized reporter notebook but they seemed too thick/too large.

I like to store the line up card holder in the pocket in my left ball bag and I wanted it to stay in the pocket.

So, I was cruising through a store the other day and stopped to look at something nearby and spied the passport case pictured  below.   Used it for two games so far and it works perfectly.  Stays in the pocket, the plastic on each side holds the line up cards easily (after folding) and is easy to remove the paper and replace it when I need to write on them.  I place the Honig's plate trips visits and other notes card in the right side behind the line up for 1B dugout team.  I hang a pencil with clip on the center fold inside the holder and it stays together.  Works like a charm.

I tested the size in my front shirt pocket and it fits there too.

Constructed of leather like vinyl.  Has cardboard liners on both sides for stiffness.  I am very happy so far.  Best part is it works without requiring any modification whatsoever.

Cost was only $6.

Just thought I would share.

I got mine at the AAFES Post Exchange at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  I have seen them in Wilson's leather (expensive so I did not think of it for line up card holder just saw it on shelf next to checkbook covers I was considering).

Any store that sells travel supplies.  Any store that sells checkbook covers, etc.  Target? Walmart?  Book stores often have travel supply sections as well.

Google search.

I have settled on just tri-folding both lineup cards and putting them in my shirt pocket.  Most of the time, at least one of the teams gives you a thicker card stock lineup, so that serves as a decent backing so the pen doesn't rip through the paper.  I find it's fast and convenient.

Never used one of those in my life. I just fold up the cards and put them in my pocket....

Same here, I have always just folded them up. But I do like the idea of having something a little more sturdy. It would also provide a little more protection in the case of rain.

90% of the time I am a fold and put in my shirt pocket guy, but on rainy or extremely hot where I know I am going to sweat through my CP and shirt, I will use a line-up card holder...this could be the next purchase, but I might worry about wet leather bleeding and staining my lighter colored shirts. IDK

I use a stack of about 10 index cards with a binder clip. I clip one lineup card to each side. I journal manager names, catcher names, and any events of note on the top card. I take a snapshot of the card after the game and discard it.

Interesting....... I take a lot of notes during the game also and have been running out of room. Gonna give this a try, thanks!

I cut out a little piece of a cardboard box, folded it and put both lineup cards inside. They're held in place by the sharp tip Sharpie I use. When I need to write on it I just put the card on top of the cardboard and go from there.
