Mouthpiece?

Hi guys,

 

I'm thinking about wearing a mouthiece for the upcoming season (still -10 celsius or 14 farenheit in Canada, I hate winter). I was wondering if any one here was using one? I'm worried about not being able to speak clearly. Any recommendations for brand?

try doing a search in the equipment forum.  I want to say that Jim Kirk sells one at Ump-attire, and he canvased the board to see who would be interested .... there may be some info there for you!

I use the one that Ump-Attire sells. It is made by Shock Doctor. I used to wear it all the time but I have gotten out of the habit the last year or so. I had no issues. Speech was a little different, but not bad. People never had a hard time understanding me.

I tested the Shock Doctor for Jim at Ump-Attire.

Had no problem with speech.

I stopped using it because I like to chew gum.

There are also a couple MLB guys that wear a mouth guard. However I am drawing a blank on who they are.

Www.prosmile.ca custom fitted mouthguards in the Ottawa area about $35-40 IIRC.

Thanks for the input. I'll order the one on Ump-Attire. Might try your advice tiger49 if that doesn't work.

I used the ShockDoctor one that Ump-Attire sells. It was not for me.

I have not used it in a while, but had less difficulty speaking versus any other mouth guard. Now I don't recall what price I paid but i am pretty certain it was much less than it is now. Also I got the clear one which is hardly noticeable.

I used to wear one that was fit by my dentist.

Make sure that if you fit your own it is done properly, because a poorly fitting mouthpiece can be worse than none at all.

If you get it to fit properly, speech should not be a problem.

I am now with Semper Fi - gum is the way I go now.
