Difference between the mizuno 122 and the 129

Hello everybody, I'm planning on getting a mizuno mask and I want to know the differences between the 122 and the 129 and your personal preferences. Thanks!

I have the 122 and I love it. I don't have any real experience with the 129 though so I can't give much real info on that. Now I may not be 100% correct on this but I think the only real difference between the 122 and the 129 is that the 129 has a chin on it and the 122 does not. I think the 122 not having a chin is my favorite part about the whole mask. It's preference though really. Can't go wrong with either.

Same mask. Only diffrence is the 129 has a built in throat guard.

I don't understand the higher price and pain in the butt to get these when they're 1.4 lbs .... you can get that weight mask here, WAY less ...and just as or more proven .....

1a) All-Star FM25Ti - 19 oz - Look around, I think you can get this for $225

2) All-Star FM2000 - 18.5 oz - $60

3) All-Star FM4000 - 17 oz - $65

 

Why All-Star?  Because they test their stuff with their own air-cannon at upwards of 100 mph to check their durability

 

The Mizuno's you're looking at are 22.4 oz

But, there is no "perfect mask". Some profiles fit differently. Some don't mind the extra heft, while others are fine with their old SUL, with limited visibilty.

 

So many choices.

I would agree it's hard to go wrong with All-Star because they do test their own equipment. I can also provide an argument for having a mask like a Mizuno or a Nike or anything else that is hard to get. It's pretty simple actually, they hold their value. You can get the money you put into them back. They also are just great masks. I have the 121 and the 122 as well as a Nike Titanium. I have nothing bad to say about any of them and I would highly recommend them. Also with a mask like a Mizuno you will be hard pressed to find anyone else in your area with one. To some people that may seem kind of stupid but it's all a matter of preference.

I already have the nike ti with tw pads, and just wanting to get a steel mask and I don't like the dynalite and I just read a lot about the Mizuno and also a guy a the MLB umpire camp had one. And I really liked it!

I love both my Mizuno masks. I know a lot of people prefer the 121 over the 122 but I actually like my 122 more than my 121. The 122 is always in my bag as a back up mask to my Nike. Even with the added weight over the Nike it doesn't really bother me. Mizuno did a great job when designing the mask to make it feel much lighter on your face than it actually is. After doing a little more research on the 129 I would say go with the 122 especially if you plan on using a throat guard. No reason to have the added weight of a "chin" if you are going to use a throat guard. Also with 122 allows for a little more downward head movement than masks that have a "chin". Since you have the Nike I'm sure you have noticed the "chin" can sometimes hit against your CP when looking down considering how straight down the Nike's "chin" is.
