He sure does.. think he made so really good adjustment.. I bet if he stayed at 3BLX.. he might only  of had to move just once..and that souls have been to the right... But i am not good enough to make those type of adjustments.

When PU moved from 3BLX to 1BLX looks like he ALMOST put himself in a position to be straight lined on the second tag attempt.

I wonder what F2 was complaining about when he pointed to the area of the second tag attempt?  Since he missed him by about a foot, I am guessing it was the distance R2 moved to his right to avoid the tag?

I know this is everyday stuff for these guys, but a good reminder for us...initial missed tag and missed touch of home equals no call.

@Haid D' Salaami would you give a safe signal on the second missed tag (don't know what PU did as he moves out of view) as R2 was a considerable distance from the plate?

So at plays at the plate we give no signal if Runner misses the plate...if there is a missed tag attempt like this one i think we should, cause were telling everyone he missed the tag. it still gives F2 a chance to try and tag the runner right?.. But this is my opinion... i will ask some guys in up high in MiLB.

No signal until he is either safe from touching the plate or tagged out. This mechanic was absolutely correct.

Never ever ever call someone safe at the plate until they touch the plate...the catcher knew he hadn't tagged him yet regardless of your signal otherwise he wouldn't have continued to try and tag him. If he acts like he did and you don't signal...that's his fault and should know that you haven't seen a tag yet by your lack of a call.

I think the catcher was complaining about a three foot violation. I might complain also.

I had the same thought. After Maddux passes home, F2 tries to put a tag on him and Maddux takes about 2 steps up the 1B line. To me it looks like more than 3 foot while a tag is being attempted.

I understand why we don't call a runner safe at HP if he hasn't yet touched it, but I don't understand why a verbal "No tag" is not correct on a play like this. Sometimes F2 thinks he has a tag but the umpire doesn't have one and F2 stops trying to tag (because he thinks he already done so).

Why don't we give both players the info (NO TAG) that they need to continue the play?
