Hey Y'all,

I'm getting back into umpiring after a 20+ year break. Last game I worked was in 1993, Babe Ruth 16-18 Regional Districts Tourney Championship. Back then we had the following:

Little League (LL) 10-13

Senior League 13-15

Big League 16-18

Babe Ruth 13-15

Babe Ruth 16-18

High School JV

High School Varsity

Adult 35+

Semi Professional

Division I, II, and III Collegiate

Now I'm seeing 10U, 12U, 8U....Thankfully no F-U :hopmad: , or "You're Gone!", LOL ...  What are all these "U's" about?

I know it's silly, but never heard of this.

Thanks!

Manny

You will find all kinds of things now a days.

Besides 10u you will see different levels of 10u. A AA AAA

Same for each age group.

Then you have Rec , Travel, advanced travel.

Never ending

The problem was when travel started it was elite baseball, now it's whoever has enough money to start a team. So they had to develop levels of travel, A,AA,AAA and others so you didn't go two and out every weekend.
