Hello (Ladies? and) Gentlemen

I have been checking out this page for a couple of years now and just decided to break down and register/join.

I am from Birmingham, AL and only umpire SOFTBALL. I umpire USSSA Rec ball (6U-18U), ASA Travel Ball (10U-18U), Premier Girls Fastpitch (18U), NFHS softball, JUCO, and some DII and DIII college softball.

I'm just wondering if there are any other strickly SOFTBALL guys and gals on here? I do use some of the tips and tricks (especially gear related) I have read on here, but just wondering if more of you speak my language?

Thanks,

Gaulden (my last name, as I am a Jennifer, and I played college softball on a team with 4 Jennifers)

95% baseball 5% softball BUT lots of common problems discussed.

He is like the guy that crossed a parrot with a wildcat.

We don't know what he is but when he talks, you listen.

Network with the other softball umpires on this forum.

Enjoy

ps. Don't ever talk, post or reply to discussions on cleaning the bases during a game.

Thee are some softball guys and girls here. There is a special section for softball questions. If you ask a softball question in the crossover section just let the guys know. Also at least one softball hangs out in chat quite a bit, Daniel, he is a good guy. I personally don't work softball but have TD a bunch so I have picked up quite a bit. Also I have access to some good college softball umpires. It would be nice to build a bigger softball following.

I do a 50/50 split between baseball and softball, but in softball it is all 12U and 15U. But remember we play under most of the same rules with pitching being the biggest difference. I hope to move into HS next year and I don't care which one it is BB or SB or both. I enjoy good ball. Welcome.

Softball members are a valued asset here.   Once or twice a year I get a last-minute softball assignment and post a dozen questions here in a panic.

Anybody who can work 12U softball has my utmost respect. I tried several times to help out on the softball side of things when my sons were playing Little League and Babe Ruth. I just don't have the patience it takes.

I only do Babe Ruth fast pitch softball.  I just join so i guess maybe that % can go up just a tad :notworthy::meditation:

I call both and I'm in my 7th straight week of week-long tourneys . This week it's 18u baseball . The past two weeks I had 33 games of fast pitch . Sometimes it's tough switching back and forth , but I enjoy both !

Welcome Jennifer:

I do mostly fastpitch, however this year I was asked to help out our baseball bretheren as the local association was a bit short so it has been about 60/40 for fastball. The baseball and softball seasons are winding down here, but in September our university and college seasons start and things will pick up again then.
