May Thunderheads now have something to do w/ all of his time in finding excellent clips for us to learn from.

 

May our brothers in the show give us few clips to criticize and many to learn from.

 

I look forward to this day from the moment the World Series ends.

I'm seeing a lot of big zones from the plate umpires tonight.  

 

Lots of head movement from PU's today. 

 

Just reminds me that we're all human and that these guys will be locked in shortly.

Ok, here is the opener with a close play that looks like it could have been missed in the first inning.

If it was missed, it was not for being out of position IMHO. He just kicked it plain and simple.

Notice how far the 2B is in front of the bag which allows a tag in the chest to still be an out. A high tag is not an automatic safe call. When the position of the fielder is that far out in front of the bag, the tag can be applied higher and still get the out.

Now, if the 2B had been right on top of the bag, this would have been a chicken poop tag and the runner would have been safe. At the bag, you got to drop that glove all the way down if you are going to get the foot.

 

No matter how good or bad the umpires, there are calls being missed and of course calls being correctly made at all levels of play every day. The calls are just as good or just as bad as they make in MLB. Nobody is immune to missing a call, both just barely missing, and missing by a lot. Stuff happens.
