Recycling Old Uniform/Shoes

OK, we all have them. Pieces of equipment that you have now outlived their usefulness. For example, I have a pair of plate shoes that has the leather torn. In the past I have had uniform pieces that were stained, but there are some clothing donation programs that will take that for scrap fabric. But I can't find a way to get rid of these shoes without tossing them in the dumpster. Does anyone know of a way to recycle these? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I know that some form of recycling is selling/giving it away. But this is to discuss equipment that has served its purpose well and is in no way able to continue.

I don't think they want shoes with torn leather. I understand that, but I tend to get every penny I can out of my equipment, so when it is time to get rid of it, it is in a state that it should never be used again. Just hate throwing the stuff into the trash, and mainly looking if anyone knows of a place where some sort of "resource recovery" could be preformed to get steel, leather, plastic, etc.

even though there not nikes, take them or send them to a nike store. They will take your old shoes and mince them into the rest in order to make tracks for highschools/colleges. The biodegradable parts will be shredded and put into compose. That is assuming that your assessment is correct where they are "unusable" for a local league.

Looked at this, unfortunately plate shoes are not accepted since they are steel toed. But will keep in mind for base and other athletic shoes.
