Guys,

I just got my first platinum and I can't seem to get the thing to stay up on my shoulders as I think it should. I've got the shoulder adjustments up as far as it goes. The side adjustment is fine. If anybody has any suggestions I sure would appreciate it.

from my experience you will have to adjust the bottom of the "y" strap up to make it fit properly. i had the same problem with fit that you seem to be having and this has fixed it for me so far.

I like to keep the side straps as tight as possible and the shoulder straps just big enough to get my head through.

It's a personal preference thing and you will have to play with it to get it just the way you want, but you are very right to want it high enough to cover your clavicle.

Welcome back Thomas.

Experienced a bit of that when mine was new... but after a few games, it broke in and set to me.....no problems whatsoever... it just took some fiddling to get the straps right for my body type...

thanks. been trolling on here waiting for a good time to jump in. crashed my computer a while back and still learning all the new goodies on my new one.

I wouldn't say trolling -- completely different meaning on forums; i.e. someone who posts just to instigate others.

Lurking is visiting w/o posting.

And once you get the straps where you want them (ideally, the square pad in front should cover the front of your collarbone) - get some athletic tape and tape the straps where you want them to stay.

i actually sewed mine together. couldn't keep the tape where it needed to be.

and yes warren i was lurking in the shadows, not trolling. thanks for setting me straight.

I know this is an older post but just received my W Platinum last night. (13.5) I am 5'10 175 - I seem to have adjusted the straps Ok, thanks to some of your posts, but I am having trouble with the side pads that protect the Pecs, underarm area. It rubs against my muscles, irritating but also raises the protector when I raise my arms. I am wondering if it is too big or will it work in or can I cut this pad out. Any suggestions. Thanks! I would give it some time to break in first before cutting anything out. The first time I wore mine was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I have ever had. After a few games, it became the most comfortable piece of gear I own, next to my Reebok plate shoes.

it takes some time for those to break in. just noticed that i am able to raise my arms fully this year, this is my 3rd year with my plat. i suggest that you start wearing a short sleeve tshirt under your cp to keep from rubbing your arms raw. i wouldn't cut anything off yet, give it time to break in.

it clearly took a few games with my plat to get it to set to my lumpy frame....hang in there , get it set and you will love it as much as we do..

Thanks for the feedback. I worked on the adjustments and it is nice and snug up tight but it felt better after my first two games on Sat. Have a few more games this week and will be patient with it but I do appreciate the feedback. I searched for over two months deciding on a CP and of course my wife, the wise one, told me to dont go cheap, get the best one to protect yourself, remember you have a real job to go to the next day and 2 kids in college and one next year. All the best. Jpaco54

Well - I used the platinum for another 4 games and most recently took two hard shots - one on the right side and one on the left side and they just bounced off. The noise made it sound worse but grateful for the protection. I have made a few adjustments but it is working in. Thanks for all the insight and recommendations. I did take a third shot that sneaked thru the left shoulder pad and side and made a direct hit on the inside of my bicep. That one hurt and still hurts a few days later.

Yeah, that's the one thing, the shoulder pads only go so far down. I just make sure the pad is pointing as forward as possible. I got hit right on the edge of that pad and it left only a tiny bruise.
