I wonder how many fans watching the game even noticed that it was the PU who made that call?

And if they did notice how many of them were thinking, " WTF is the plate guy going at 3rd?"

If that ball gets by F5 does someone else rotate home in 4 man?

Yes. Once BR reaches 2B, U1 rotates home. He doesn't do that before then, in case BR needs to retreat back to 1B.

U3 will go out on trouble balls only.. if U3 doesn't go out.. no rotation..

BTW the PU should be going toward 3rd as soon as U3 goes out... not waiting till BR reaches 2nd.

I think someone goes out on all fly balls with no runners but I admit my pro mechanic knowledge isnt as good as for college and HS. If U2 goes out as happened the U3 goes to second and PU goes to third. U1 goes home when BR commits to third.

In the Pros they want someone to go out on every fly ball as possible. I was told that the reason was the league wants to try and get a umpire in the picture as the catch is being made. Even with a can of corn to a gold glove outfielder.
