I'm going to have to say Knight got this one correct, here's why...

The video is inconclusive to say if Knight's call was correct or incorrect, but you see in the super slo-mo replay he's in good position and is intently looking at the bag.

The final replay from the 1st base dugout shows the foot moving forward, (but it doesn't show if it remained in contact or not)

Also Knight is decisive and sells the call well, knowing the magnitude of the call.

Unless there's a better video from up the line or overhead, I have to stand by Knights call.

I am a M's fan...this call is not why we lost the game.. but I do think he missed it.. I thought maybe..maybe his little toe came off a little, but got back in time... but what ever.. no big deal.

Plays like this has me starting to wonder if calls like this one are a product of instant, super-slo-mo, replay. What I mean is, some MLB umpires are making calls that with the naked eye appear to go one way, but instead make a "ballsy" type call. Do you guys think that these calls are being made with the mindset that when the replay is shown, the replay will show something that justifies the “ballsy†call?

I read the recap, and the game ended when this runner scored, but the situation was bases loaded w/ 1 out. So the probability of another run scoring had this person been called out was pretty high.

I've been asked a similar question before, and I don't think so. Speaking as someone who has never worked in a replay system, There is so much going through your mind at the time of a banger play that secondary factors just don't have time to enter.

I can think of times when I've made a banger call then thought, had I known it would benefit ___ I wouldn't have given them the benefit of the doubt, but that just doesn't have time to enter the equation.
