As many of you know I'm in the HR department where I work.

This morning I had a meeting and without going into too much detail on the situation here's the readers digest version:

  1. Employee took inappropriate action and was aware that it was inappropriate at the time
  2. Employee disciplined
  3. Employee thinks we are mean & evil
  4. Employee writes scathing letter telling us how we should have handled the situation

A person in the meeting who is not in HR, but necessary for the conversation says, "HR is a thankless profession. Where else can you work and everybody else knows more about your job than you do?"

I couldn't help but start laughing to myself and smiling like the bird that ate the canary.

My boss then says, "Warren probably knows that all too well because he's a baseball umpire too."

The other person looks at me and says, "You must just be a glutton for punishment."

I said, "And I'm married with children too, so I'm never right."

It is worse than being a broken watch.

At least the broken watch is right twice a day....lol

As a teacher I know exactly where you are coming from. Parents, and anyone who listens to Rush Limbaugh think all teachers are entitled, lazy, idiots that have no expertise in their field whatsoever.

I like how you complain about people painting with a broad brush by using your own massively broad brush. Quite ironical, dontcha think?

I don't blame teachers, I blame the system.

The system is the reason we now home school.

I take exception to that! I'm a parent who occasionally listens to Rush. I empathise with teachers. I'm glad some are willing to do that seemingly thankless, underpaid job. Kinda like an MiLB Umpire.

ironical

???????????

:WTF: :D

The misspelling was intentional, as a sorta-joke. And as far as underpaid? Well, maybe early on. But my kid's 4th grade teacher last year made over $90,000. Ohio has a database where you can look up teacher salaries - by name. Kinda interesting...kinda insightful why there are so many levies. His teacher is hardly an anamoly.

Maybe that particular teacher has a Phd. I think it's reprehensible for INDIVIDUAL salaries posted as public record like that. It's none of your business what anyone else makes unless you voted for them.
