Makes sense, but for some reason the guys that UIC the tournaments want the same people to work a field all weekend. It is nuts. When I do it, I make sure my partner and I switch out every two games so that know one has to do three plates in a row. Some guys will work four plates followed by 4 base games. Just not any fun for me. From time to time I will help out if someone falls out or can't stay all day. The time limits are short, but after 3-4 of them in a day I am ready to go home.

Sure the UIC wants it bacause it makies the assigning process easier but that doesnt mean that its right for the game or for thje umpires.

If it's 90+ degrees outside, you will be worn out after three games, especially if you worked two plates. There is no way you'll be worth a damn during game seven at 10 p.m. after being in the heat all day.

Hard to lump everyone into the same category. I work in an environment where the ambient temperature is typically >100f. I'm used to heat. I deal with molten iron @ 2800f. My body is accustomed to heat.

there is only 1 piece you can't buy. I had to fabricate it.

Here is a parts list. All made of 3/4" pvc:

2- 90 elbows

2- couplings (sleeves in some regions)

8- MPT adaptors

6- 2' pieces of pipe

4- 1' pieces of pipe.

2- fabricated fittings.

I'd post pics of the pieces I made, but won't let me. Says file is too big.
