My Video Posts

Jim Knight commented on Brian's post regarding fair / foul bunt by Halladay last night.

In there, he said that I usually .....can't remember what he said exactly, but it was inferring that I'm usually negative with my video posts.

This bothered me, because I disagreed, but then started thinking ...hhmmmm, maybe I am???

So, ...I looked ....Found my "professional forum" posts (where I put the mlb video clips, obviously) and searched my name, and this is what I found.

Since 11/09 I've posted 40 threads w/ video or regarding a play. Here is the breakdown:

Threads either leaned positive to umpires, negative, or nuetral (where I'd just want an opinion from the forum,etc)

POSITIVE: 13/40

NEUTRAL: 18/40

NEGATIVE: 9/40

Granted this was done quickly, but .......there you go

I think it's fair to say that I'm more apt to be looking for everyone's opinions of things that have happened, then "slamming" anyone ....

You are an umpire hack. You felt the need to explain yourself more than was necessary. It may have made you feel better but it was unnecessary. Do as you feel fit to do regardless of what others think of it. Remember, umpires have to do what is needed regardless of what may happen.

I may not post videos too often and certainly, not as often as you. But, I do comment on them when I feel the need to. If I am negative or positive, it doesn't matter. I will comment the way I feel about it. I am not an MLB umpire groupie. I don't blindly accept what they called as fact and I always look for why it happened more than what the call was. Most of the time, I try to explain why the call may have occurred rather than what the call actually was.

As Finnerty has put, brevity good. Blather bad. You, my friend, just blathered. Keep posting. We WILL keep looking and commenting as necessary.

Point taken, and I thank you for that. That's me though ....my thought is, ...if someone else feels that way, then maybe others do too, and maybe I AM too negative when I don't have room to be, ...if that makes sense.

Blather as it may, ...I'm glad to see that I'm not a "negative norman!" but....I hack, I most certainly am! :big_no

I thought originally you had a tendency to pick on MLB calls but that simply isn't the case. I don't have time to search ESPN or MLB for videos and look forward to you and others to find calls that need discussion. Sometimes that may be a questionable call or something that will advance our collective awareness of rules or mechanics.

How many total POSTS did you make for each? It may not be that you're being negative more, but that you're arguing more when you are negative.

There are days where I am negative with every post. There are days where I am mixed. Well, I am going to continue it and not care what others think about my posts. I might just be negative for the rest of the year. I haven't decided yet.

Read them. Enjoy/hate them. And, I will make more. That is the only part that Thunder and any other poster needs to worry about.

I hope I didn't give the appearance that I did. I was simply giving another way for Thunder to look at the matter.

Personally, I could care less whether a call is right or wrong. The videos are terrific because I get to see the MLB guys execute their mechanics (timing, distance/angle, rotation, etc) and impliment the rules. Sometimes the MLB guys screw up the mechanics. Sometimes they even screw up the rules. But it is always fun and useful to me to examine the play and read the comments here. Of course, I appreciate when the umpire executes flawless mechanics, but I can learn just as much when things get screwed up.

Andrew, I didn't count that, ..it was ones that I STARTED that I counted....
