Nutty Buddy makes a Catch

Agree with Kevin. I use the Carbon Fiber Shock Doctor cup and also wear the Shock doctor compression tights. The cup pocket in the tights is useless. so I wear my jock and cup over it. It works great.

My Nutty Buddy story:

The Nutty Buddy "floats" between your jock and your compression shorts. I have heard that some guys like to wear a second set of compression shorts over the jock, but I have always thought that was overkill.

So I'm on the dish for my second college series this year. I am returning from busting down the line on a routine ground ball and I notice my NB has turned sideways! WTF?! Since this is the first out of the inning, I try to make a slight and casual adjustment to turn the cup. IT POPS OUT OF THE JOCK and starts traveling down my leg. CRAP! I drop into my plate stance and trap it against my thigh. Strike one looked a little funny as I try to keep the NB pinned. Then, the batter grounds to F6 and I waddle/run down the line.

I return to the plate area and the NB falls to my plate shoe. Fortunately it didn't fall all the way out. I grab it and navigate it up my leg, where I stuff it inside my shin guard. It sat there until the last out of the inning and I was able to retreat to the dugout and fix it. My partner got a good chuckle over my dilemma.

I have never had this issue with the NB and I can only surmise that I improperly installed the NB when I was gearing up. Since then I have been very careful to ensure the jock is stretched tight to hold it in place!

Friday on my plate I took an arm shot and a mask shot, no cup yet.

Had my first plate game of the year today. Took one off the inner part of my upper thigh, one off my left arm, and one on off my mask (which is new this year -- what a way to break it in).

When I got home and told the wife about my arm, she gave it a kiss. I said "And I got hit here, too," while pointing at my inner thigh. She laughed and said "Yeah, right!"

I wear McDavid tights with the floating cup holder and it holds the cup in the right spot. The Smitty's and McDavid's with the sewn in cup holder are useless for the cup on the plate. As soon as you squat down your junk falls out, completely unprotected.

Working on the dish on a Adult Major Wood Bat game today.

Mid way through the game a pitch comes in and is fouled back by the batter.

The ball gets a part of the catchers glove and the inside part of his mask.

The ball then comes back sharply and catches me in the Nutty Buddy.

As the ball impacts the area my hands instinctively go to the area of impact.

Next thing I know is I am holding the ball and giving it back to the catcher.

He asks are you ok Blue.

I said yep, I am fine thanks to my Nutty Buddy.

Just wish we had that on video because it probably will never happen to me again.

The offensive team was all yelling nice catch Blue.

I settle in and give the count 2-2 Play.

When the inning was over my partner came in and asked if I was OK.

I said yep, I love my Nutty Buddy and so do the Boys.

 

Sounds like someone is angling for a sponsorship.

 

Just be aware that you you may have to wear a "Protected by Nutty Buddy" patch on your sleeve...

I do scissor and have never caught a cup shot.

You truly are a lucky man, I got hit twice this past summer, funny (if anything can be funny about the situation) part was that I was hit twice at the same ballpark, both times with left handed batters up. The announcer, during the broadcast the second time that I got hit, even said "talk about deja-vu, lightning does strike twice"
