Reebok Plate Shoes

Took a shot to the foot plate tonight in my Reebok shoes tonight...I really felt it. I don't think I will be bruised, but I felt more than I'd like to feel.

That's the first time in two years that I've taken a shot like that and I'm really hesitant now.

Finnerty was right. I think I'm going to have my New Balance on standby.

I took a shot w/ my 450's on Sunday and didn't feel a THING ...I mean NOTHING!!!

By the way, ...I really like my 450s .... I went 1/2 size up and one up in width too! NICE!

While I could sleep wearing my Reeboks, I don't think they're as strong as I'd like them to be.

Like I said, no bruise, no pain today, so from that standpoint, I suppose they worked.

I've had the same issue in my Reebok's with a few toe shots, felt them a lot more than I expected to.

Got good advice here to try and slide my foot back as far as possible to avoid my toe being against the end of the toe box which has helped a bit, but this wouldn't help with the hit you took.

I've done 4 plates with my NB460's and they are more comfortable than my Reeboks, and seem a bit more roomy (I sized up on width). Haven't taken a solid shot in them yet though.

I like my Reeboks but I have to say the same thing. I took a hard ball off these shoes last week and felt more than I wanted. There definitely the weakes part of my plate gear now. I my get new once before next year. If I try to get new once right now my wife will kill me and sell all my gear. LOL :-)

I took a direct shot off the front of the toe on my 460s the other day and didn't feel a thing. Pete on here though said he took a pretty nasty shot on the 460s and felt it.

The thing about it is that I don't want to have to think about that every time I step into the slot. I agree that its good advice, just not sure how practical it is.

Agree, that is why I bought the New Balances and made the Reeboks the shoes for my backup bag.

I just found a pair of +POS low tops, that take a toe shot better than anything. Only used once, then stowed away. I'll save them for 80mph+, or "big" games with a four man crew, 'cause they're really heavy.(I can't believe I got them for $40 delivered, they're so pretty).

Keep that big toenail clipped back, too. If not, it will be the first thing that gets contacted by the shoe/ball impact, and will be driven back into your toe. Been there, felt that. (Plus it turns interesting colors, too)

I used my Reeboks sparingly before I shelved them. I don't like that snout over the toe box, like the new 460s have. Those are ball catchers, and will drive the shoe back into your foot, if struck. I'd rather have the smooth transition over the TOP, like the 450, and my old +POS have. Make sense?

Some day, someone will make a good looking shoe, that's as comfortable as the latest models. That day is not here yet. The +POS low TOP is still the best looking shoe, IMO, and has the best sole for traction, and mud release. It's just that the old Goodyear rubber weighs as much as a bowling ball laced up to your foot.

Me either. I don't know about the 460's, but the "snout" on my Reeboks is gone since I figured out a better way to lace them. Lace up the shoe just like you would an ordinary athletic shoe, skipping the metatarsal plate altogether. Then, after you've run the laces through the last set of eyelets, run them up through the holes in the plate. When you pull the laces tight, the plate comes back toward you and lays completely flat against the TOP of the shoe.

Me either. I don't know about the 460's, but the "snout" on my Reeboks is gone since I figured out a better way to lace them. Lace up the shoe just like you would an ordinary athletic shoe, skipping the metatarsal plate. When you pull the laces tight, the plate comes back toward you and lays completely flat against the TOP of the shoe.

I had to do something similar and it works really well. It wears on the laces, but w/ my NB's I was replacing them twice a season anyway.

I replaced my Reeboks with 54" laces and it worked quite well, the 63" seem a bit too long.
