Welcome to U-E. Don't be afraid to ask questions. That's what I did and I haven't been beaten up too badly. ;) Though before asking a very general question, be sure to search through past topics first.

I do youth ball. Do you know if there are any umpire store out in Southern California? Or if I want a new piece of gear do I have to order online?

Ahhhh another year round umpire, we tend to get very jealous of guys in SoCal who are working games in December & January. WELCOME!

As for purchasing new gear I always do it online. Visit ump-attire.com they are the best in the business!

I live in Pasedena.

You mean Pasadena?

Honigs used to have a location in Santa Fe Springs but sadly they closed a couple years back. There are a couple people that do sell gear as independent reps for companies (and there is a company out of the Canyon Country area that sells stuff but I cant remember their name since I havent been in the SoCal loop in over 3 years).

I do miss being able to work year round but the cheaper cost of living and the fact my wife and I could actually afford a house without mortgaging my grandchildren's future (and we dont even have kids yet) does have its own sets of benefits.
