Does anyone have one of these chest protectors? I saw one a few weeks ago and was thinking about making this my summer chest protector. Any thoughts?

1) Why do you need a "summer" chest protector?

2) I wouldnt recommend this for anything over 10 year olds.

The one I have is Champro Pro-Plus Umpire Chest Protector (#CP135)

It's a good chest protector but it is very thick, the inside foam is hot and can get very smelly.

I have really been eyeing the Wilson West Vest Platinum Umpire Chest Protector

I have the same Champro and started off last year with it as my main CP. I like it, don't get me wrong, but I'm quite glad that I stepped up to a Wilson Gold. The Champro is a good value and fit me quite well, but I'm not sure I'd wear it beyond middle school or JV. Not that I fear getting really hurt or anything, but I'd rather not take the chance. I did like the length of the Champro over the Gold, though. But one thing I hated were the plastic connectors. About mid-way through the season last year was when I got the Gold and passed the Champro to my 17 yr old (then 16 yr old doing rec league youth games). He got hit on a fairly routine, pretty soft pitch right on the buckle. Didn't hurt him a bit - but it broke the connector. And it's permanently attached and Champro doesn't sell replacements. So that was a little disappointing. He's still using the Champro this year - but that buckle now can't be unattached and has a little bit of the universal repair device (duct tape) on it.

All in all, step up. If I was doing it this year, I'd consider the All-Star but you can't go wrong with either Wilson or the All-Star.

That Davishield had some nice features about it. The lining was great, as was the velcro adjustments. And it fit like a glove, as the plating flexed around your body.

It just had one small downfall. It didn't protect you against flying baseballs. Details, right?

The All Star as a couple of features that might make it a better choice than a WV for warm weather. First, the padding is designed to be easily removable and washable. If desired you could even have a second set on hand. This padding is also designed with an antimicrobial treatment inside the padding. I beleive they call it Aegis. Secondly, there is an air channel that runs up the middle of the CP. I wore this last summer in a couple of games where the temp was +100 and IMO the channel really helped.
