That umpire is crap. He should have been punched in the throat. He just treated Kendall like a damn child.

Even if Kendall was chirping at him ....he didn't turn around, and when he was getting "scolded" Kendall wasn't looking at him either. Even after the altercation, right before the next pitch he was talking to Kendall again (who knows what that was about) ...but even then Kendall didn't look at him!

If any umpire gets disciplined, it should be this guy...........saw this last night....if Kenddall was bitching, he did it the right way... (in his crouch, mask on, facing away).........

Little rough there...

Kendall undoubtedly had some choice words for Estabrook. Should Mike have dressed him down like that, no. (he should have FYC'd him his next at bat :stir:fuel: J/K)

I'm sure there will be some reprecussions. I hope it doesn't cost him his full time shot.

Anyone notice that even after the EJ, none of the other umpires from the crew came down to separate them.

I think he just did his last MLB Game and perhaps Minors.

The door should get slammed on him.

And shall we hold you to the same standard, and use the same consequences you've suggested here?

Yeah, probably. Still, I've never seen anything like that before.

What is going on with the umpires these days?

Is it just because I hang out here now that i notice this stuff more?

Yeah, doing stuff like this is one sure way to keep yourself from being moved up. Yikes.

Yes, If I were to ever pull some crap like that, I'd fully expect to be punched in the throat.

Yeah, well, it doesn't work that way. They have their contract... not just any contract, mind you... they have their union contract.

Ri-i-ight. Whatever you say, sport-o.

Either you have yet to learn how to pick up internet sarcasm, or you think what that umpire did is okay.

Either way, I'd hope that umpire has bigger issues now the being punched in the throat. I'd hope he has severely hampered his chances to work in the bigs again.

Completely uncalled for and hopefully a learning experience. I don't think the door should be shut due to this. Hopefully, he will learn and know better. Obviously, he was brought up for a reason and it was more than just his interpersonal skills with players.

He definitely should be penalized but not as much as to keep him from getting his shot to MLB unless he has a history of this kind of stuff. If he has history, then he hasn't learned. But, also, he does have to show he will not put up with their crap, although he went about it the wrong way.

Bad move. But, hopefully he will learn. Definitely not recommended at any level.

How long do we think that this guys has been an umpire? If he doesn't know by now that you can't do that, when will he learn?

I feel this is a bit harsh. This may be his first big mistake. Going to shut him out for 1 mistake? If that were true, so many of us would be fired from our jobs. Unemployment would be about 90%.

He made a mistake. Other MLB umpires have gone out to the mound to yell at pitchers. Most recently, Ed Rapuano. Should he no longer umpire in MLB? Have to be consistent if you think Estabrook shouldn't. Maybe, he felt it was OK b/c he saw a MLB umpire do it recently. Is it his fault from learning from his peers?

He was called up for a reason. Maybe, he will learn and get better at this part. If he doesn't, then get rid of him. But, if he does, then he has just improved his game. And, that is what we all try to do as we go on the field.

Learn and get better at our weaknesses.

When will Ed Rapuano? When will Bill Hohn? These are just 2 recent incidences from MLB umpires. He may have learned it from them. So, in essence, he is learning. Just learning the wrong things.

all this guy needs is disciplined....not terminated, not demoted, not blackballed.....just some corrective action....

MLB umpires have to hunker down...been a bad stretch for them lately and no more negative publicity can help......
