Sansabelt?

Anyone familiar with Sansabelt slacks? If so, what's your opinion?

They're okay. If someone gives them to you, they'd do.

Honig's polywool pants are the bench mark. Nothing else is close. Nothing. Slide them on once, and you'll understand.

But, they're not cheap. But somewhere down the road, if you're at this long enough, you'll get a pair. Then you'll wear nothing else. So why not start now?

I had a pair of heather gray a few years ago. They were ok, but I have since changed to charcoal. I had a few pairs of Gerry Davis dark charcoals, but didn't like the greenish tint to them when they started to fade from the sun. I have now used the Smitty dark charcoals for the past couple of years, and prefer the Smitty's to any pant in the 40-50 dollar range. Purchase officials actually has them for $39.99, which is the lowest price I have seen. They have them in both charcoal and heather for that price. They also have their older style pants on closeout for $24.99, but I haven't heard any good things about their older models.

Check with your association before choosing the color gray, whether charcoal or heather. Most associations have adopted to the charcoal standard. Hopefully yours has too, because it looks much better than the heather, in most people's opinion, including mine.

Sansabelt is now Smittys. I actually have a friend who has a par with both the Sansabelt & Smittys tags in them.

I currently have 2 newer pairs of Gerry Davis charcoal and 2 pairs of GD heather (one plate and one base of each). I have been happy with both, so far. I was just wondering if I may have stumbled apon a great deal with the Sansabelt pants.

What is this about the "green tint"? Does this happen to the GD pants over time? With both colors or just the charcoal? Am I gonna have to buy 2 pairs of the Honig's poly-wools after all?

I have worn GD charcoals for the past two seasons. I have had no fading issues and really no workmanship issues either. They are extremely comfortable. I originally purchased two pairs or combos, but my shin guards barely fit under them, so I added a pair of plate pants to the mix. The only problem that I have had is that the fabric can snag or pull. Typically has happened with the excess fabric down the seems that go down the outside of the leg. I think it is getting hung on my shin guards. I have only had one pull in the center of the leg, but after removing it you cannot tell.

One pair that they sent me already had a major pull in them, but they sent me a replacement pair and a label to mail the other pair back. The expandable waistband is great as well. I would certainly buy them again in the future.

That being said, and the fact that this message board has never led me wrong so far, I plan on investing in a pair of plate and base Poly-wools for next season. It looks like I will not need anything else for next year, so I plan to invest in the pants that everyone talks about during our state-meeting in January...no shipping, plus I can actually try them on.

I don't think it's as much of green tint, which there is a little, but the fact that the GD pants are flat in color where the other pants have a bit of texture to their color.

Ding, ding, ding, ding !!!

The GDs have no grain ... no texture! They're flat and have---not a greenish---a purplish or bluish tone. And the way the fabric feels ... i just don't care for them at all. (Holy $hit, I sound like Mr. Blackwell. )
