New Smitty Shirts

So when I'm trying to get looked at or just trying to fit in, I wear a Honig's shirt with the polywools I always wear. I have enough perception problems with my age, which I try to allay by being faster and more agile than the other old guys. I can control the brand of uniform I wear, so I conform when I think its needed to avoid any extra attention.

Is this because the uniforms look better or because your particular organization wants you to wear them. I ask because I will need some more clothes for next season and it will be my first time is scholastic sports and I'd like to make the best impression possible. I don't mind putting out the extra money if it helps people's perception of me.

And I must add that, in my case, I wear polywools because I love everything about them. I don't just wear them to look the part. I would wear them anyway. Hell, I wear them to do men's weekend ball, summer wood bat, scrimmages, virtually everything. I have three plate and two base, and I constantly rotate them and steam them between games. Then they only go to the cleaners as infrequently as once every half dozen games.

The second you pull on a pair of polywools, suddenly their cost is irrelevant. And no matter when you pull the trigger, you wish you had done it sooner. It's the most worthwhile wardrobe expense you'll have. But working your first year of high school, you won't always want to get your polywools dusty or muddy. Smitty's are the closest in charcoal shade and overall appearance. (Honig's own Ultimate slacks don't even look like their polywools.) But if you get a set of polywools, you will never regret it. The way they look, feel and perform, you'll see rather quickly why they're the gold standard.

Where is a good place to get Poly Wool pants. The few sites I know and have used don't seem to offer them.

The standard for Poly-wools are from Honigs. U-A is now using the same company that Honigs uses for their poly-wools. You can make your judgements from their. Ok, so as promised here is my finding on the Smitty vs. Majestic replica (note these aren't the made in USA) So the both shirts are size L. The Majestic sizing is

L 16-16.5" 42-44 36-38 34-35

The Smitty sizing is a follows

L 16-16.5" 44-46 38-40 34-35

I will also add that the majestic is about an inch longer up front, but both are within a 1/4" the same in overall length. The material is almost identical. The smitty is a smidge softer and stretchier. But once you've had a few washes the difference is negligible. The smitty is larger but quality wise they are both spot on. As you can see in the picture they only place either shirt says the name is silked screened into the collar. So if you need/want this style of shirt I'd choose the smitty just size appropriately.

So, ...in this MLB replica shirt, ...Smitty's sizing is different than their regular jerseys? This MLB replica seems to be sized up for plate based on your numbers

Can't remember who it was, but they received theirs and said it was HUGE, ...that was my first clue. Usually Smitty's are SMALLER in general. For instance, let's take their regular jersey compared to Majestic's regular jersey. An XL will do just fine for Majestic for both plate and base, but, ...in Smitty, I take a 2XL, and it's just a tad big on the bases ...

Need to find out if this is the NEW sizing for ALL of Smitty's stuff from here on out........

As someone in a HS association that still wears Navy, my only gripe with the Thermabase jackets is that the navy is far far far too light - I like how the Smitty jacket looks like a darker and truer shade of navy.

I bought the majestic last year. You are absolutely correct that last year's model is significantly lighter than the navy I get from Honig's, or any other OF the shirt suppliers out there. I was dissapointed in that, but on the field its not so bad. Standing next to a guy outfitted with Honig's navy? VERY noticible.
