Worked a 15U game last night and I am happy to report that there were absolutely no problems to report during the game. It all went smooth as it could be. Just 2 teams playing baseball.

Worked with one of the most experienced good umps in our association. He asked me to take the plate so I did. He told me I had a great consistent strike zone and my mechanics rotations where great.

The one good thing was that are Association UIC was in the stands watching the game. He had never seen me work the plate before. It was a good day for him to be there.

I kinda think I was being tested without being told so. But it was a great night.

There was one minor problem but a was after the game. Home team was ahead by 6 in the sixth inning. After the visiting team batted there was only 3 minutes left on our 1:50 limit. So we called the game. Obviously They were not getting 3 up and down in 3 min.

Coaches did not have a problem with it. But as we were walking to the car one of the parents from the Winning team asked us why we ended the game early. We explained and he said that was bull:censored:

we just kept walking.

Nevertheless I felt great after the game! :rollinglaugh:

These are the parents that kill the game. I mean what are we going to do......line them up for one batter, two if you're lucky! I think not. God Job Jax!

After the game .... then there were no problems :GL:

And that parent is the perfect example of why kids are so :censored:up!!!:bang: Your kids team won, why would you care when the game was called?!:rollinglaugh:

What an idiot!

Glad to hear you had a good game Jax:notworthy:

It was a parent from the winning team. I think maybe his kid was up to bat maybe. :rollinglaugh:

By the time the defense took the field and the pitcher got all of his warm up pitches in the 3 minutes would have been up anyway.

Absolutely. But then again I could have called some Magical :) Triple Play right away and have the VT bat again in the 7th.

Let's not start this again. I got "beat-up" for stopping a game with one minute left on the clock.

Technically, doesn't the next inning start when Out 3 is recorded in the prior inning?

Jeff,

Yes, but in Jax's situation, a complete inning was not over...the VT had just completed their at-bat (top half of the inning) and home team was due up to bat while ahead 6 runs.

And as for Pete's comment, he's right...I remember the "spirited" dialogue in the thread he's talking about and am waiting for similar salvos to start in this one! :FIRE::2cents:

I'm stayin' out of it.

Actually you got beatup because you're Pete, the time limit was just the vehicle. Can you feel the love.:2cents:

I'd have to wonder if the genius parent didn't even realize that the game had a time limit. If he did, then it's quite likely that you nailed it - that his Derek-Jeter-in-waiting didn't get a chance in the bottom half. Boo freaking hoo.

In Babe Ruth rules the inning starts as soon as the last out is made in the previous inning, so that wouldn't necessarilly apply.:2cents:

That's Funny! I should tell a coach that when they are not happy with a ruling.

One of the problems was that the game was supposed to start at 7pm but both teams were ready to go early. We start our clock when we break off the plate meeting and that happened at 6:50 so that is when the clock started.

The parent thought we had to go till 8:50.
