Its a shame. HT Team is getting beat pretty bad, HT is on defense. R2 headed for 3rd base.F5 fields a ground ball. Throws to 3rd gets by and hits the 3rd base coach who tried to get out of the way. I got nothing play on. But the HT coach starts yelling "dead ball, dead ball". Runs scores.

I hear the coach say "someday we will get an Ump that knows the rules"

I say   He goes sits in the stands. I say"you gotta leave"

Talked to the league president. Coach is suspended for a week.

It was actually the easiest game ever, Pitching machine. I almost felt guilty taking the money.

I was pissed at myself for a second there...Leland called me to work at ten, but I passed out after my 8:00 class and didn't wake up until 12, and he'd already reassigned the game. Until I saw pitching machine, I thought I'd missed a good toss by not working tonight, since we've been doing so many games. But, nice toss, he had it coming after that remark

Wow..Umpires for a Pitching Machine game:WTF

I don't know if I would have pulled the trigger on the coach so quick, especially at a pitching machine game, no less at any other level for that comment.

How about saying "That's enough coach".

I recently had a AC argue a call.

Said that's enough coach and gave him a warning that if he continued he would be ejected.

Two days later he comes over to me at my car while getting ready for a game that followed his.

He apologized to me and said he apologized to his HC and his team. He forgot he was there for the kids.

This woulda been a new one. Game tonight, Mustang FP softball...had a great lady keeping the books and a volunteer running the scoreboard.

Moving along with a close game and in the 4th inning, new batter comes in for the HT (both teams are in the same league). I hear the "volunteer" behind me encouraging the girl to swing the bat. She doesn't, I ring her up on called strike 3 right down the middle.

All of a sudden, I hear this banging commotion and a few very choice words behind me for all to hear...turn and it was the volunteer running the scoreboard! Yes, it was his daughter and I thought he was going to deliver kittens right then and there.

As I started walking toward him, he thought  was coming and apologized. I told him I didn't want to have to get a new board operator as he was doing such a fine job. Nothing else from him, thankfully as that would've made for an interesting "ejection" report!

I know. I would rather they have a coach ump. Then they could pay 2 umps to do the 12U games.

I had said Thats enough and as I was walking away I heard the comment which to me was very insulting.

For the life of me I don't understand why youth associations don't have coaches as umps in pitching machine and 6U coach pitch games. My main reason for feeling this way is I would HOPE it would force these coaches to actually read the rule books we (board members) give them, and maybe, just maybe it would reduce the rat coaches in the older age divisions. (ok, I know that's a stretch, but one can wish right?) Personally, I won't argue a call, unless I know what the book says, if I don't agree with the call, I might ask for clarification.

Our league uses coaches and/or parents for coach-pitch (T-ball) and machine pitch games. The only score keeping is the score keeping in the kid's heads. There really should be no need for umps in either divisions, as they are strictly instructional.

we use coaches for t-ball with no score keeping but for some reason use paid umps for CP-1 and above. The umpire assoc. we use usually puts a green kid on those games so they "get experience" umping, but usually all they get is more experience from mouthy parents and coaches that don't know/read the rules.

For us at the coach pitch level we actually generally send a sr umpire as a easy game assignment. The thing is these dopey coaches don't know they've got a sr ump for those games and try and pull their S:censored:t.

I've never ejected anybody at these games, but have had more than one opportunity to do so.

I've got 5 coach pitch games coming up, oh yeah baby

I feel for you UIC, I used to be the CP1 commish for our association, I couldn't decide who whined more, the 5-6 year old kids or the coaches. In the 6 years I've been involved with rec ball, and some select ball it never ceases to amaze me how quickly parents and coaches forget what we are all really there for. The funny thing is after the game the only thing on those kids minds is what kind of snack they're getting.

Yes, you can. It's the coaches:crybaby2:, hands down - and you know it!
