But what is your typical reaction (thought in your mind) when you see a swipe tag like this ?

I think the same thing I think on any play -- what do I need to see and do I see it; who gets the benefit of the doubt (because especially in two-person there's no way to really see every play / tag / touch). Maybe I dont understand the question.

It's not a trick question ...promise .....

Honestly ... It just seems to me that a BIG swipe like that is smoke and mirrors and it better be really definitive for there to be an out there .....

I had a play in a JV game...R2 was dead by 15 feet. F5 does a dramatic sweep a full second before R2 slides in. It would have been the third out of the inning and F5 starts running off the field. I called it safe, def coach comes out and asks what I had. I told him..he says, "but, isn't that automatic?" He left before I busted out laughing right in front of him.

yeah, Helton throws out a prayer. he really wasn't close, the real time video is inconclusive, but the other angle shows the glove swiping the ground, but completely missing R1. This is not automatic.

I agree that it isn't automatic. If any of you remember my post about dumping a coach earlier this year because of this very thing. The ball was there way ahead of time but the fielder just didn't drop the glove enough until too late. Coaches see the big tag and think out.
