So I wanted some new shins, but I was not happy with the choices currently on the market. I wanted some Douglas Shins but they stopped making them. I settled on Wilson. I am not a huge fan of these shins. The things I hate are:

black rivets

adj. velcro knee caps

metal clips that rust

So I sent them to Douglas. Jeff has done some work for me over the years and he always comes through. So this is what they did:

stainless steel rivets

removed the velcro on the knee caps and riveted them in place

plastic hardware ( I provided )

$65.00 and 4 weeks later....

These are the best shin guards on the market ... bar none

Looks like a lot of work to change almost nothing...

1. change the rivets? was this for looks? No one sees them unless you wear them on the outside.

2. Isn't the knee cap suppose to be a floating knee cap,

3. If you take care of metal straps they don't rust...

I did take my metatarsal foot flap off though

Sees to be a waste of time and money and i know that a little TLC after each use keeps these in great shap.

The metal D rings suck. I've replace all mine with those same plastic buckles. They're the only way to go.

That said. I like the wide velco straps on my Bauer shin guards the best.

Take a look at the new Honigs shin guards.

They are comfy. I can where them without my tights.

I have the Honigs shins as well...bulky, hot, hard to run in, huge and heavy...trying to come up with more words to use to describe these shin...

It should be obvious that I don't care for them...

Nice upgrades on the Wilson....

Yeap...sure do...bought them the first year out...

OH I did forget to mention...they are bulletproof...sadly you have to put up with everything else to get solid protection.... :crybaby2:

Replacements will be coming in 2012...they won't be Honigs....

This is a serious question. How do you care for the metal straps?

It is as easy as cleaning them... get the body sweat salt off them they will last!
