Looking for some info or feedback if anyone has used the diamond dfm-ix3 umpire mask. I tried one on at a baseball tournment,, it felt very light compared to my honigs k98. I am very curious as to how the pads on the diamond will hold up. I want to upgrade my mask to a lighter mask, better vision. I am open for suggestions. Haven't called above 16u. I have already upgraded my CP to a wilson pro platinum, upgraded my base and plate shoes. Shin guards are fine for now, honigs k10. Next upgrade I want is better mask.

Have you done a search in this forum on this mask and read what others are saying? I'm sure you'll find plenty....

Mask is great (I own in silver), the stock pads are a disgrace. I have used Wilson wrap-arounds and currently Team Wendy's pads in mine with good results.Having said that, this is now my backup mask. Primary mask is a Champro magnesium with two-tone Wilson wrap-arounds.

I bought the mask this season and have used it for about 10-12 plate games. The mask is very light and reasonably comfortable out of the box. I didn't care for the stock pads so I replaced them with some tan doeskins... this did add a little weight to the mask but I like the feel and look better. The harness is not as "elasticy" (yes, I'm aware that is not a word) as the mask I am used to. I have adjusted it a couple of times but it still doesn't slip off as effortlessly as my old/worn in mask. I may replace with my old harness or just stretch it in the off season. Overall I am happy with the mask but if I had it to do over I would have just purchased the frame and used my old harness and bought upgraded pads to start with. Hope this helps. 1

I tried one and like the others that have posted before me, I hated the pads. I would recommend the Allstar LUC pads as a nice fit on this frame. I wish the silver was available as a frame only. If you need to spend an additional $40-50 on a set of pads this is not a great values IMO.

Something to remember with the silver frame: Always check the ball after you get clocked. I got nailed in the jaw, and the rough frame tore four stitches out of the baseball.

Yeah, the stock pads are junk.

Honig's does have a silver frame, but it's not aluminum like the Diamond.

I'm using the silver Diamond on and off with the magnesium Champro, too. Either are good choices, IMO.

I swapped out harnesses in both, as they were thinner, and more "grabby" than a WV. I like the Mizuno harnesses best. They're like butter (or, maybe they're just old, and broken in.)
