ok so its been many months now . for those that have this newer allstar mask . any comments from the group? i have had mine since last oct 2010 . worked many HS varsity level and below , took a couple shots to the mask . no ill affects to speak of , the mask is very light (not ultra light) though. i like the "LUC" allstar pads . for me so far its a winner . hoping pete from midwest ump will review (update) sometime later this summer . btw the "LUC" pads are the same as the titanium version mask .

After some tips by fellow umpires, I'm seriously looking at this one during the off-season.

I have worn this mask in a rotation with my All Star TI all season. It is a very nice mask. Single bar frame with great visability. I have not been hit hard enough yet to have taken advantage of the design of the upper frame (It is curved to match the contour of the skull vs being flat) but I have taken a couple of decent shots and the mask has done its job very well. Light enough at 19 oz that I do not notice it. I will say the biggest surprice is the LUC pads (as TH pointed out they are the same pad my TI). I thought that I might not care for them. I was wrong. These are comfortable and cool. They dry quickly and are not at all "graqbby" on the beard. They have the right mix of stiffness and give to them if you know what I mean. If you have not seen it, the video testing on YouTube is very impressive and should give you confidence that this rig is designed and built right.

I think that this mask retails for around $55 and I highly recommend it.

Guys, ..

This is a nice mask! Marc, not sure how you can say this isn't an ultra-light, but this is coming from someone who used an FM25 last season :)

Anyhow, taken a few shots with no issues at all, ...nice vision, comfortable, light, ....approve!!:givebeer:

Marc, ...I don't want you to take that the wrong way, ...I wasn't saying you're wrong, ...I'm saying this is by far the lightest mask I've tried for sure .... I'm not sure what an "ULTRA light" weighs.... but yes, ...this rig is 19 oz with the harness ;)

ordered this mask from baseballplusstore.com last Thursday. along w/ the visor and a wood bat after agreeing to sell my FM25 mask that I put some of the DFM microfiber pads in. received a phone call Monday saying the bat was out of stock but my order was shipping out.. Was hoping the mask would be in for a tourney I'm working this weekend and didn't think that would be unrealistic to have it in 9 days. Was looking forward to giving it a test run in the tourney, but looks like that's gonna have to wait unitl maybe my games on Monday
