One thing I like about this board over others is that for the most part everyone is pretty civil. You usually wont find an argument on something between two people that involves more than gentle ribbing.

I wish I could say the same for other places.

Hey all. My name is Dan and I just found the site. Great setup! I'm 25, originally from Madison, Wisconsin and I'm in my last year in the Air Force currently deployed to Afghanistan. I can't wait until my contract is up so I can get back to umpiring. I umpired Little League games from 13-17. My current goal is to get as many games as I can in 2011 and go to the Wendelstedt Umpiring School in 2012 and see if I can't make it to the bigs!! If that doesn't work out I'll probably keep umpiring as many local games and college games as I can. I love the game and have never really been exceptionally good at it. I got spot role plays on varsity my junior and senior year of high school and haven't picked up a bat or glove since. I'm looking forward to getting back to the game I grew up with and absolutely love. I'm a huge Braves fan and often go to Brewers games whenever I happen to be back in Wisconsin. Great to be here and I look forward to reading the forum posts!!

Welcome to the board, it's a good place to learn. If you get a chance to work with Rich Fronheiser or Dave Thom, they are pretty darn good. They work all levels around there so you may run into them.

Yeah. Dave is a good guy and a good ump. I worked 1 or 2 games with him and played ball with his son. I'll keep an eye out for Rich.
