This CP fits nicely and is very comfortable.  The only drawback initially was that the stock harness can cause it to sag a bit.  Once I bought the All-Star Delta Flex harness, the CP now stays put all day long and is even more comfortable as a result. Nice and snug.  I've been hit numerous times, and have never felt any pain, so it protects beautifully.

I use this as my primary CP and have for the last 6-7 years and have no regrets. It has excellent protection. That's not to say you will not feel when you get hit, b/c I've been hit by some nasty fouls and it has hurt like a SOB, but I shudder to think what it would have been with anything less.

I'll be in the market for a new CP in the next year or 2 and will shop around, but this will be at the top of my list.

I have worn this CP for the past 3 seasons.  I must say that from a protection standpoint, it's second to none.  I have taken numerous pitches and foul balls directly to the chest and shoulders with no ill-effects.  I tell people that I hear them, but, I don't feel them.  I will say, however, that the bulkiness of the CP makes it difficult to pull on and take off your jersey.  But, that's a small price to pay for security.

I bought a platinum over the winter and used it this weekend for the first time. Took two good shots from foul balls and felt nothing but everyone heard them. I felt that it was slipping down and I need to adjust it some more. Nothing big but, just a small distraction. Wished I had bought this sooner. You will feel bullet proof.

I decided after 12 years of umpiring to change to a hard shell. I started selling Wilson gear in my business and figured I should at the least have the gear that I was going to sale. I have had the Platinum and the Gold. The gold just did not fit me that good. I am smaller. I have taken a few shot off of the chest and I can say I have yet to feel one.
I will never go back to a soft protector. This is a must have for any umpire that does baseball.

... I wanted even more protection, which is what the Gold provides. So after a few years, I wanted to give a Gold a try. Well, I couldn't fit my 18-inch neck between the two clavicle plates. It is nothing like the fit of the Platinum. When I originally picked the Platinum over the Gold, I flipped a coin. Now, unless the XL size Gold fits a little more loosely around the neck, the Platinum's mine for good.

I've worn mine now for two games and I love it. I feel protected. I took a glancing blow last night off the left shoulder and didn't even notice the impact. Mine is getting more comfortable and I'm getting better at putting it on. Best purchase of gear for me, so far. I'm glad I listened to everyone on here that talked up the platinum

I wear a size L on both base shirts and plate, and I use the Platinum. An XL for me would look as though I'm setting sail  so that's out.

One way to put on your shirt is to put both arms into the sleeves, then pull the shirt over your head; sometimes it's a bit of a wrestle to get the shirt over the shoulder pads, but not always.

After several years out of umpiring I knew I wanted to get a new chest protector this year. I researched several protectors prior to my purchase and this was the correct choice for me. I bought my Platinum prior to the beginning of this season and I am very pleased with it. I talked to several of the guys on this board along with some guys from my area and almost everyone of them said the same thing. " The WV Platinum is the best chest protector they have ever used." I agree 100%. I always tell guys the chest protector is one item that you do not want to go "cheap" on. Glad I spent the extra money on this one.

Love the vest so far. No problems yet. Only issue is the shoulder pads won't stay in position, but that should come in time. Also, too difficult to raise my arms, hopefully that comes as it wears in too.

I got mine last summer. It is a fantastic addition to mear gear collection. I just took a straight foul shot center chest last week, and other than the pressure from an 80mph fastball hitting me, had no ill effects at all. The only thing I would like to see, is more streamlined version that makes it a little lower profile, without giving up ANY of the protection. I guess we can't have it all, though. I wouldn't trade my platinum for anything.

I have had this chest protector for abt 3 years. Once I got it adjusted to me its comfortable. I have had the gold also and like this one better. I sold the gold.

Nothing beats the experience of seeing a foultip foul that hits you full in the chest bouncing back halfway to the mound, a catcher turning around with a look on his face as if he expects to find you lying flat in the dirt, while you can say (smiling!!) "no problem, thats why we wear all that stuff".  And of course you feel the hit, but that's about it. No bruises etc.

I'm absolutely a fan of this protector, and encourage everyone to try and buy it!!

I'm a big fan of this CP. I've been out of umpiring for over 25 years and this CP is so much better than anything I used in the pre-historic days. I would have no problem recommending it to anyone else to give it a try.

I am an absolute fan of this protector.......and I've had quite a few.....

After a serious injury from a foul ball ,I went from the old ribbed protector to the +POS BB 2000... It afforded great protection, but it had one major drawback. It was a furnace...the heat retention made it only comfortable early season or fall ball...

I replaced it with a Honigs K1...comfort and light weight are the K1 strengths, I took some shots using the K1 that I felt more than I should...A good friend of mine who was recovering from an injury offered to let me borrow his Plat for the summer....and I was sold...

I am a fan....it took sometime to mold to my frame, but once on it did, I cant say enought good things about it...
    ***
As an aside, I often urge fellow umpires to network with each other... I am happy to loan out my K1 or PLAT to help people make the best decision for them...I ahve spent wayyyy too much money on equip and if I can help save a buck I will....

when I returned my buddy's plat, he told me just to drop it off on his porch...I cleaned it and dropped it off and draped it over a case of his favorite adult beverage......I am now welcome to borrow ANY of his gear anytime!!

I borrowed SunDevil#71's Platinum for 2 games and while I felt confident with the protection, I didn't like how it fit under the arms. I felt my arms couldn't relax well at my side. I'm sure I could have gotten use to it if I used it more.
