  1. I like the mesh hats! Of course I don't wear one behind the dish because I have HSM. But everything he said is good advice. Buying pro gear now will save you money in the future. They last, probably as much as three times as long as non pro gear. They're built to last and are the best protection you can buy. I have, literally, ALL Wilson gear, but Diamond makes a good mask, All-Star makes some good stuff (I hear they're putting out a new CP in the near future), and some Champion gear isn't that bad. Everybody on this board has their own opinions about what looks good so that will be kind of up to you. But everybody will agree that buying pro gear is a no brainer if you can swing it.
  2. http://www.smittyofficialsapparel.com/contactus.html ^^ Go there to contact Smitty directly. I'll be sending them an email also. Their shirts are great, cheap, and I love em. Juuust wish they had the Polo Blue too.
  3. Don't throw your helmet. Take care of your equipment and your equipment will take care of you. I'm not sure that was ejection worthy as far as MLB standards go because we was upset at himself rather than any call on the field, but I have no problem with the EJ. Thrown equipment like that looks bad. Add that to the many reasons why I am not in MLB :question1:
  4. I'm with ya! I'm lucky though, most guys around my area wear Cliff Keen shirts, and they don't have the true polo blue either, just a powder with a black collar. The shade of a true polo blue is better though, hands down.
  5. I have cream, navy, black, pro powder (not polo blue), and the regular powder (w/n) in Smitty brand. The colors and the trim are universal. Meaning, all of the Smitty shirts (so far) match Cliff Keen, Honigs (except the black collar of course), Dalco, and LeTrell. Cream is pretty universal, indeed. I think the Officials Choice shirts are a but different though. Buy a cream Smitty shirt. You'll love it. I worked with a guy doing a Legion game who had the Honigs cream, I didn't think there was any difference in the color.
  6. I think if you would have ejected the guy, that would be well deserved. You are working alone. Don't take any cr@p from any rat.

    Balk?

A left hander must throw to first base if he steps there, period (while in contact with the rubber). A right hander does not have to throw if he steps to third while in contact with the rubber. Like Warren said, 3 to 1 move is okay, 1 to 3 move is not.
  8. Whaaat? That's not right. AT ALL.
  9. This is a picture taken from Pete's blog. I was skeptical of what people were saying about the collar so I investigated and Pete didn't like the shirt when compared to Honigs or the Ultimate shirts. They may look okay from a distance but I don't want my collars looking like that! I think I'm going to pass on Majestic.
  10. I found this post on "Umpire's Fault they lost" interesting and have nominated it accordingly for "Post Of The Month July, 2010"
  11. As Finnerty said, they ran low on stock, but as I see now they have them back in. I'll be ordering some now.
  12. Can you still buy Majestic? I was going to order a couple from baseballsavings and they didn't have much.
  13. ...if you haven't already. I really enjoyed his speech. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=10264421
  14. I've always wondered... has anybody ever called a game because of it being... too hot?
  15. I'd only pay her to adjust my cup and measure the inseam on my plate pants.
  16. Every now and then the pitcher will throw the ball up in order to get the batter to pop up and the catcher will stand up as he is catching it and I'll get blocked. I have no problem asking for help in a case like that.

    Hello

Welcome! I too started when I was 13!
  18. I feel your pain, Warren.
  19. You don't even want to count the Ws on my gear.
  20. Yes.
  21. Welcome! Canada is well represented on this board.
  22. International tie breaker, sometimes called California tie breaker (I don't know why). It's a way of preventing 3+ hour long games. It's different everywhere you go (it even varies from town to town in metro KC) but the way we play, after regulation (time limit or innings) we stick the last out of the previous inning on second base with nobody out and tell them to play on. This encourages scoring and keeps tournament games from throwing everything off. We don't do it for any league games or championship games during tourneys.
  23. Was there no ITB? 3:45 is suicidal length.
  24. The only other brand that has the true polo blue is Majestic. But Jim Kirk from ump-attire says that those shirts are becoming extinct. Officials Choice might be polo blue. Anyone have one?
