Lol. Gotta love high school ball. I swear, there are some people on my board that I wonder why they even still umpire if every game they screw something up and every game they get yelled at by the coach. Most of the time on our board, the person with the most ejections in a season screws up the most.. Nate

Yeah I'm going to take them off one of these days, I just got them this season.. As for me being far back, yeah I was.. Like I said that was before the last couple pictures were before I got certified with the high school board here. My mechanics have become fairly crisp now. We have 4 people on our board to went to umpire school and did one season in single-a ball. They all four returned to go back to college, they're ages 22 - 26.

Tonight I called in infield fly (which it was), no one knew what to do. So all the runners went up one base, and the defense tried to get the "force" at third. This was a 10-12 C division game. So me being Mr. Nice Guy, I called time explained to both sides what an infield fly is and put all the runners back and called the better out. I hate the idea of a "do-over" but in this case, it was just mass chaos, and when the coaches don't know what the hell is going on I can't penalize the kids.. Nate

Well if you ever want to go to a high level, go to a local high school game and get the number to the board secretary for the local umpire board. They should set you up with higher level game, and enough extra cash for a year.

I called and they don't have anymore materials to make them. Instead I got myself a WV Gold and I'm happier than ever.

I used a Majestic one I bought from ump-attire.com last year, but realized it was a little big for me.. So I purchased the same new mlb style in the red-white-blue with the MBUA logo on it, it's a great jacket.. Not something to wear behind the plate as it has an elastic on the waste, but I plan to get a plate coat next year. Nate

I was told by Frank over at Honigs East that they switched to a cheaper shirt company.. And it obviously hasn't worked out this year, so they're going back to their old producer next year.. Unfortunately, we probably won't see those new shirts until these cheap ones are all sold.. B)

Hi everyone, I found someone on the local board here to buy it. I got my WV Gold in the mail today, did a game with it, and absolutely love it! It's really made for a guy like me. Still needs to be broken in and a little more tweaking on the sizing, but it's just what I was looking for. B) Nate

That's the board I'm with.. they're only made by honigs east and they won't be making them for a while. They send hats to be embroidered once a month if not once every two months.. Plus I do not think honig's east ships international, but you can get one without the MBUA writing on it from the main office. Nate

Yeah it does.. It wasn't though.. I had my hand on his back.. I'm so used to it with high school, the kid was just so small, it was hard to get that low..

The price is in the title.

Yes.. that was last year before I joined the state board.. unfortunately I was wearing it backwards.. since then I've learned better. And yes my partner has his cell phone on his belt. At that time, both of us were certified with the local little league here, not many standards.. I've know been certified with the state board, and have cleaned up (aka first picture lol).

You volunteer? :D
-
Yeah that was a pretty late slide.. haha I can't help but to laugh at some of the slides.. I can't remember, normally I clean the plate a lot, that picture was taken about 10 months ago so I really have no idea what I was doing there..

MLB Umpires Gone Wild! - Bleacher Report

I'll bang a kid out on a tie any day. Gotta love people that have no idea what they're talking about. haha -
How many MLB/MiLB games will you attend this year

I'm heading to a PawSox game this saturday. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm right be hind home plate in the second row! :D -
The phrase "That's enough" has worked a couple times for me. High school JV game, coach is slow giving the signs and pitcher is waiting to pitch. Being nice, I tell the batter to get in the box. Next pitch samething, I tell him to get in the box, but he ignores me. I say it a second time, and I hear the third base coach yell "He can't tell you to get in there, next time he says it take a step away." Oh really now?! He gets in the box, next batter, ignoring me, takes a step back and I issued a stike. The second I did that the coach went nuts, and said I can't do that. Of course he knows all the rules. I cut him off and said "That's enough," and he didn't say a word. That's the closet I've come to an ejection all year, and if he decided to follow me back to the plate I was going to toss him.

I've had parents come up to me asking for my name, and I say contact the league umpire-in-chief and it usually shuts them up. But regardless, if someone asks for my name, I call my UIC and tell him what happened to cause the parent to come up to me. Luckily, I've had one of the best seasons so far, and I've only come close once with kicking a coach out.

Hey everyone, to better introduce myself to the community I want to show you guys pictures of me working.. The first three pictures are from this year, and the ones after are from last year.

Yeah, I buy all my stuff from ump-attire, they're great people. I get my uniforms through honigs since they do deals for my association. But all my gear and pants have come from ump-attire.

I will be doing NEYSA Sandy Kofax and Mickey Mantel, as well as JLS Sandy Kofax and Mickey Mantel.. Both at local leagues.. We also have a huge tournament at the end of july and early august with over 50 teams that compete in 2 weeks. And the games pay $44 each, all ages..
-
Yeah I'm with you. I try to do it as much as possible so when I'm with a partner I don't burn him. But there's some cases where they're ready before I can say play..

Hello everyone, My name's Nate, I'm 18 and I certified member with the Massachusetts Baseball Umpire's Association. I've umpired up to Jr. Varsity this year, I've been an umpire in the area here for 5 years. I'm graduating high school in two weeks and I'm going to college at American International College for Criminal Justice and Psychology. I plan to go to umpire school after college and try a career in professional umpiring. If that does not work at all, I plan to go into a federal law enforcement career. I'm the youngest state guy in my area and I had an article written about me in the local newspaper.. you can check it out here: http://www.thereminder.com/features/page2feature/youngumpirehasmajo/ Well that's pretty much it, I plan to become an active member here. It looks like a fantastic community you all have! Nate

Hello everyone, I've just stumbled across this website researching CPs.. I currently have a west vest platinum, and I'm not a fan at all. I have a very small build and it just won't fit me correctly.. It's quiet frustrating since it seems I'm wasting money trying to get gear that fits me right.. Anyway I bought the west vest 10.5" from ump-attire (they're the nicest people around). I've just ordered the west vest gold, hoping it fits me better.. I'm trying to sell my platinum now. I've posted on craigslist trying to get rid of it, but I figured maybe someone would be interested here. http://westernmass.craigslist.org/spo/1180338843.html I want to thank everyone in advance, I'm absolutely sure I will be posting around here! Nate
