http://m.mlb.com/video/v340823383/ here's the video from the game...... the idiot on high heat makes it sound like Drake went out and started the shouting. he just gave CC the ball, said a little piece and walked to the plate. CC starts the yelling as he is walking off the field at the end of the inning......

They had 6 on the field. I also saw one in each bullpen. Didn't see where the 9th went. Think the just had all of them out to introduce them at the final game.

Your browser does not support iframes. How about this for 3BX?

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to Ump Attire, in a game a couple weeks ago i got hit in the left hand and my new Marquart indicator lost a rivet for one wheel. I emailed them to ask if there was a place to send it to be repaired. Today i go to my mail box and there was a new one waiting for me......... Thanks, Ump Attire!!!!!

Smitty brand ball bags with inside pockets
Dbellyflop reviewed Umpire in Chief's review in Ball Bags
did not like this bag, too flimsy, and like @Umpire in Chief says the brush pocket is too deep. may not seem like much but after using a bag that works properly, kinda hard to not think about it every time i reached for my brush. -
Love these bags. hold their shape and the zipper pocket holds my car key......... pockets inside for line up holder, pen and brush.....

Great Visibility, added Team Wendy pads and have taken a couple foul ball shots, worked great. Highly recommend.

Looking into camps in northern CA. Does anyone have experience with this school? http://www.northbaydbms.net/BTLUmpireCamp/ Or any other camps in the Bay Area? TIA

"Looking at the running lane, I thought that was just somewhere right around the plate....." Yes they are, Wow. I guess the chalk line is just there for show.............

What our league does is, if an ejected coach or parent refuses to leave, put both teams in the dugouts and tell him or her that the game will not continue until he or she is gone from sight and sound........ Haven't seen it needed for a coach yet, but as a league official I have done this a few times for parents that have gotten out of line. Also, as for calling the police, our games are held in public parks, so they will just ask the offender to leave, but can't really make them (unless they do something really stupid). But, the police will back up our play of not continuing the game until they leave.

Interfering with the catcher when runner stealing 2nd
Dbellyflop replied to a question in Ask the Umpire
If the F2 makes a throw and the runner is put out. -
LL rule 8.05 with runners on base it is an illegal pitch (balk in intermediate and above) b. the pitcher, while touching the plate, feints a throw to first base and fails to complete the throw; this is one of the rules that doesn't match OBR.... no balk

Had the plate for a Jr. LL game today. B4th 1 out. Batter hit a popup that only goes about 2 feet in front of the plate. F2 goes out to catch it.............. ball ticks off F2's mitt, hits the ground and goes to the backstop. I Point Fair, batter ends up on third......no question from VTHC..... which really surprised me..... B5th catcher sets up outside, and of course pitch comes inside. F2 tries to catch but misses completely. Ball hits my left hand, which i thought i had behind my knee......... indicator flies to the back stop...... I shake my had some and make a fist, all good, just hurts like hell...... go to pick up my indicator. a nice stainless Markwort, and the rivet for the strike wheel is gone. pull the plastic backup out of my bag and back to work...... Top of the next inning. 3-1 count on the batter,(I had just given the count), pitch right down the middle. "STRIKE 3!!!!!!" batter turns around " that's only 2" so i do the punch out "STRIKE 2!!!!!!!" Batter steps back in and hits a line drive to right center on the next pitch...... Lots of laughs.........Knew it was bound to happen someday,

From the OP, looks like they called everyone safe, but from this quote looks like they called the batter out..... I hope not. Batter should not be called out unless the interference stopped a double play....

8.05 with a runner or runners on base, it is a balk when- (a) the pitcher, while touching his plate, makes any motion naturally associated with his pitch and fails to make such a delivery. as soon as he stepped back, he was committed to pitch, when he stepped back with his pivot foot, he failed to make his pitch.....

4.09 HOW A TEAM SCORES. (a) One run shall be scored each time a runner legally advances to and touches first, second, third and home base before three men are put out to end the inning. EXCEPTION: A run is not scored if the runner advances to home base during a play in which the third out is made (1) by the batter-runner before he touches first base; (2) by any runner being forced out; or (3) by a preceding runner who is declared out because he failed to touch one of the bases. Rule 4.09 Comment: APPROVED RULING: No run shall score during a play in which the third out is made by the batter-runner before he touches first base. Example: One out, Jones on second, Smith on first. The batter, Brown, hits safely. Jones scores. Smith is out on the throw to the plate. Two outs. But Brown missed first base. The ball is thrown to first, an appeal is made, and Brown is out. Three outs. Since Jones crossed the plate during a play in which the third out was made by the batter- runner before he touched first base, Jones’ run does not count.

@base-jester figured out my 2:30 in the morning ramblings. F2 would set up outside and the pitch would come over the left hand batters box, I would call ball. If F1 missed the "target" and the ball was over the plate where F2 had to move his glove back in to catch it, I called strikes. I just thought it was funny that the catcher never set up further in. And the coaches taught the kids to pitch to his zone and not the zone I was calling. The coaches never had him set up further in, just got on him for not framing the pitch right. F2 was catching and framing the pitch just fine, it just wasn't a strike.

So, just to jump on this thread, how does one get a copy of either one legally? I have emailed and called MLB multiple times and can't get an answer from them how to get them....

Had a game last weekend. 13U 50-70 field. HT F2 was setting up outside all game, and the pitchers were popping the glove, but obviously in the left hand batters box. I balled them all. when pitchers would "miss" and the catchers glove would come back in, i would strike it. just to be clear the pitches were over the left hand box line....(not strikes). second inning i suggest that F2 set up a little closer to the plate....... he stayed out there.......... about the 5th inning after hearing the coaches get on the catcher for not framing the pitches properly, I asked him if he was getting in trouble. he said he was. I said that they were not strikes. he agreed, but said that the "coach", who was off the field keeping score, was their umpire all season and he called them strikes...... I got a little grief from that teams bleachers, but not one peep from the bench...... Seems like they taught them to throw to that one "umpire's" zone, but not to adjust to a different one.

While it is the runners responsibility to avoid the fielder. Even on the first view I saw F4 go out of his way to make contact with the runner. F4 is even moving away from the ball to make contact. And if it's OBS runner just gets 2B. After many views I like the original no call. And hopefully we get to hear the huddle conversation in next years vids.

I can see having a conversation after a game. But a chirpy mom, who's kid was probably the one called out, doesn't end well.

Yes, super regional. Wish I could remember which game, I have been watching all the replays on ESPNU. But in my defense I did post at 2:30 in the morning, during my break at work. #longnight
