  1. Between football, softball and baseball I spend about 400-500 a year. Baseball is by far the most expense but it bleeds over to softball ( shirts, pants and shoes ). I consider it a " love offering " because I love being outside and doing what I do.
  2. Since the batters box was gone I would have drawn a line with a bat to let this guy know his boundries. I have had to do this in the past and it seemed to have worked.
  3. You obviously use the term " gentleman" very loosely. There is no way I could do that to my partner. I would have worked what I was assigned ( maybe ) and then made sure I never worked with this " gentleman" again.
  4. I would say that you are not over ruing at all. I do ask the BU to be sure it has hit them before calling it. I am not a big fan of " I thought it hit him(her). I try and stress at pregame that we are the third team out there and as a team we need to work together. That to me is helping to get it right, not over ruling.
  5. When I work with someone I always tell the BU that if you see it to go ahead and call it. I have seen someguys wait until the batter either gets on base or is thrown out and then they ask. To me it just looks better to call it when it happens.
  6. Fall high school starts the middle of the month. High school girls fast pitch starts next week so its back on the foeld again. Took about a two week break to catch up on the " honey do " list. I have been going through umpire withdrawl, ready to get back on the field. Of course this 95-100 degree heat may have me wishing I was sitting in the ac.
  7. We call that the " good ole boy " way of life. You sound like the kind of guy who is better off not being a part of that group.
  8. Stan, I am with you. I will do my two maybe three ( in cooler temps ) but now I am good with one or two tops. Nothing against you guys that can do more.

    Hello

You will enjoy reading and contributing here. Welocome
  10. Lets keep this young mans family in our prayers. We all sometimes forget just how fragile life is.
  11. Sorry to sound so foolish but its in the brown spray can. Not the Lemon Pledge. Just spray and wipe with a cloth. Holds the shine well.
  12. I am a recent convert to Scrubbing Bubbles and Pledge and I like it alot. Even works on the red clay down here in Georgia. Very little dust stays on the shoes if any.
  13. I have the Cliff Keen MSX shirts and I like them. They hold up well for me even in the 95 degree and humid days. I would like to know if anyone else has these shirts and if they have been satisfied with them. I have some Honig shirts as well and they are good but I prefer the MSX shirts.
  14. I could not agree more.
  15. Jon Miller with Vin Scully is good as long as Joe Morgan stays home.
  16. I am all for Vin Scully. If He-who-shall-not-be-named and Buck never did another game that would be fantastic.
  17. My thoughts and prayers will be this fellow official as he hopefully recovers. As far as the coach, I hope he loses everything he owns and enjoys prison with his fellow inmate big bubba. People like this have no place dealing with kids or officials. Keep us in touch as to how this all ends.
  18. What if you are pretty sure but not 100 % sure? I have had it in a game and I was pretty sure but not absolutely sure so I did nothing and went home that night talking to myself. Please advise, I would like to hear from alot of you guys. Thanks
  19. Usually its a junior league game that bores me so that my mind wanders. Its like watching paint dry some nights. Of course one pick off throw to first or a stolen base usually wakes me up.
  20. You are correct on that and when that is a problem then the shoe is best. I was going by a normal day on the dish
  21. Count me on that boat as well. Just looks lazy to me but to each his own and I am certainly not calling anyone lazy. Its a personal choice.
  22. Welcome and enjoy.
  23. Congratulations.
  24. Just like catoblue says. Ask the kid his name and go from there.
  25. I have had a pair of these shoes for a couple years. I like them so much that I have already bought another pair when these wear out. Shine up really well. Just wish their base shoes were better.
