I didnt guve him home, he stayed at third i had nothing

this happened to me last week. 18U tournament. Im on the bases.Kid on 2nd base. Batter hits grounder to second baseman, runner on second takes off for third. Second baseman throws to third but it is a high throw. Kid running to third slides early and doesnt get to the base. third baseman jumps up to get the ball, misses it and steps on the runner who is still reaching for third with his hand. After play is over coach asked me if i saw what happened and i say yes then he says that runner should get home. I said "coach i saw him step on him but he was still trying to occupy third base and did not make an attempt to go home". Went back and forth and finally gave up after seeing i was not giving him a run. Did i get the call right.

​Why would you warn the head coach for arguing balls and strikes and then ignore an assistant who is ranting about the same thing? The whole time was the 1st base coach the head coach had nothing to do with it

It was and thats why i ignored him because if he can hit it its a strike at that level.

I had the same two teams in the Championship and the coach appoligized to me saying that he is sorry and that he knows that he shouldnt of acted that way in front of kids. I said no problem that its ok i never take it personally. That to me this is a new game and that what happened before was a different day

Ok so I got stuck doing 8U this past weekend. Saturday went fine. Sunday i had 5 games. Firsr game went smooth, second game was not so good. My strike zone was all over the place. I just couldnt find it. I wasnt consistint so I gave the first coach a long leash. He was chirping about the strike zone from the dugout and let it go. In between the 3rd inning he came up to catch for his pitcher and started talking to me. I told him to stop. He didnt and then told him "coach this is your warning" he stopped right there and went to the dugout. His team is now up to bat in the 4th inning. I call a pitch a little bit outside for strike 2. 1st base Coach starts ranting that its not a strike i ignore him. A pitch right down the middle for strike three, i mean the batter knew it and walked away before i rung him up, 1st base coach starts yelling "see now thats a strike blue" i take my mask of and say back "Coach your done" he charges at me full speed and gets bill to bill my partner and the other coach who happened to be the tournament director pulled him off the field and went smooth from then on.

Sean called a pretty good game. And it might have been becuase he went to the mound to quick.

Sean is a good guy and im glad to be able to say i know an MLB umpirevwho is taking me under his wing when in the off season.

Hey im doing districts here in florida starting this week. Ive done 3 man 2 times when i first started but never really knew the "right way" to do it. Ive read the 3 man paper that FHSAA gave us but are the some things you do differently in 3 man. For example ik that in 2 man when your in B or C you go to the edge of the cutout to make catch or no catch in the V. I had someone tell me in three man when 3rd base umpire is in B or C he goes through the infield and into the outfield to make the call. Is that right?

Thank you, people say i am mature for my age... When im umpiring lol, but again thanks. For that reason my friend, who did 92 MLB games last season he has helped me out. Only been umpiring for a year now and already doing HS (JV and Varsity(also made district crew)) and College. Thanks again for giving me props. And glad to hear that we have the same Birthday Not that I don't believe you, but what levels of college baseball are you working at 17? Im just doing private colleges around my area.
