Ok. Refs did absolutely nothing wrong. Wisconsin is completely stupid for thinking they could move the ball a couple yards to the left with 18 seconds left and still have time to spike the ball so that they could attempt the FG. The officials did so well that they should be selected for the BCS championship game. Officials rejoice!

Which part was not completely screwed up by the officials? Think about it. It was as if there weren't any officials out there during the last 18 seconds. Must be nice.

Wow. Had this discussion on my recruiting forum. I'm a HUGE Ohio State fan and I would be fine with every other B1G school losing every game they play if it was possible. That being said, Wisconsin was screwed. I agree with you guys who said ASU had a right to get on the ball. What I haven't seen mentioned is the fact that the whistle wasn't blown. The clock should have been stopped either for a change of possession (which would've been overturned via replay) or a delay of game penalty. There's just no logical reason to allow the clock to run while a defensive player is on top of the ball. NONE! If you argue otherwise you're either an ASU fan or too dumb to even have an opinion on this subject. The fact is, the play was run with 18 seconds on the clock and the Badger offense was ready to spike the ball with 8 or 9 seconds left. The umpire was standing there with his dick in his hand while watching the defensive player lie on the ball and then ended his hypnosis when he realized an actual game was going on. Finally, the referees running off the field before even discussing it with coaches or themselves was incredibly weak. Not sure if there was anything eligible for review there because the only thing that was f'ed up was the officiating. 18 seconds is an incredible amount of time to run a play between the hashes. Players at any level of football could do that. Don't know how these officials end up not being suspended for at least one game.

The financial issue is probably the most pressing. $4500 or $5000 is going to be tough sledding.

Have been contemplating this for a while. Graduated from college in 2012 and I'll turn 24 in December. Have been unsuccessful thus far in securing a "solid" job, so I'm thinking this could be it for me. I am a little concerned with the fact that I'm only about 5'10 and have plantar faciitis. Working to correct the plantar faciitis as best I can. Like I said, I know this is my last shot to do this and I know if I don't I'll likely regret it the rest of my life.

Very valid. My brother manages a team in an organization that is known for sending kids to play D1 and professional ball. Team is filled with 14 and 15 year old kids playing against 16 and 17 year old kids. Many of their tournaments are exclusively wood bat. The amount of scouts who show up at these tournaments is very impressive. So, can I surmise we are no longer getting the best of the best in baseball. We are only getting the best of Warren Buffett's and others in his tax bracket's children. Just asking. Capitalism is a beautiful thing. God bless this country.

IMHO the scouts know what they are looking for and one could hit with a broom and they would know. They just back off the batting average x amount of points to figure out what it will be with a wood bat., ie a 350 hitter with metal will be a 320 hitter with wood. They know that balls fisted for a base hit with the metal will be an out with the wood. They know a ball just 5-10 feet over the fence with metal would be warning track power with wood. There use to be 2 sets of jugs guns. One was 5 mph faster than the other one. The slower gun was a more accurate one, so they just had to ask which gun was being used. 99 on the fast gun would be 94 on the slower gun. Once again they know what they are looking for and take into account metal versus wood. Certainly not debating the ability of scouts to identify top players. I'm just saying instead of assuming a guy's average will dip 30 points when he goes from metal to wood, why not actually see the kid swing timber?

That's funny. When my partner and I (we have the maturity level of teenagers at times) are out there working bad summer baseball we do what we can to keep each other entertained in-between pitches. One of these things is flipping off one another in subtle ways. Infield fly is the most common one. Scratching an "itch" with only the middle finger is another. Makes those 2:30 blowouts tolerable.

I've never understood why the MLB hasn't lobbied the NCAA and/or NFHS about this from a scouting standpoint. I realize scouting isn't a perfect science, but it seems if you're scouting a kid you'd like to see how he hits with the weapon he'd be using in professional baseball. Obviously, not every team (i.e. big market teams) cares too much about scouting because when the time comes for a top prospect to enter free agency they can usually pluck them away with their checkbook. But the small-market teams like a Tampa Bay rely on drafting top notch talent because they can't afford to pay free agency money for the top guys. You'd think there'd be a concerted effort from those clubs to ensure they know as much as possible before drafting a kid since the consequence of drafting a bust within the first five rounds is very severe.

I'm not really a fan of a guy getting thrown at intentionally for the most part, especially when a guy like A-Rod really doesn't have the option of charging the mound (could see the headlines like A-Roid Rage). Not a fan of A-Rod, the Yankees or Girardi, but Dempster is a pussy. If A-Rod had any supporters on that team there would've been a brawl and Dempster would've taken one right on the chin. Finally, I am almost always on the umpire's side, but after seeing O'Nora do what he did I am shocked that Girardi didn't start throwing equipment on the field. Showed a lot more composure than I can imagine I would have. Toss Dempster and tell Farrell to get the f back in the dugout once he comes on the field and this ends right then and there.

Seems like O'Nora really screwed the pooch here, no? Pretty obvious that Dempster should've gone home early, IMO.

If you believe that MLB put this out there publicly without consulting the owners, players and umpires then refer to me as the Nigerian Prince and I'll be sending you $15 million from my estate in exchange for a small fee that I'll pay the bank to release the funds. That being said, in my opinion doing this for the regular season is dumb. Each team plays 162 games. Even if umpires made several game ending calls against a particular team they would still have an exorbitant amount of games left. This type of review is necessary for the NFL and NCAA FB because teams don't have a margin for error as far as wins and losses are concerned. I'll concede that the playoffs should have review, but allowing the potential for over 29,000 challenges (if my math is correct) during the regular season without any repercussions is utterly ridiculous. Think about it, if you're a manager and you don't use all three of your challenges each and every day you're not doing your job correctly. Overkill if you ask me.

I could be wrong, but they way I read it, if any manager comes out to argue a play that CAN be reviewable (even if it isn't being reviewed) he can be ejected on the spot. Now plays that aren't eligible to be reviewed can be argued.
