First, read your defenders BEFORE the pitch. Know if there's a shift. Know EXACTLY where F9 is. Second, the op mentions a seemingly obvious base hit. Normally we'll be going inside to pivot. (This is where knowing F9's location is vital) if the ball is where you think theres a possibility of F9-F3, BUST ASS inside and assume your normal duties. Now, if F9 is playing shallow, sometimes you wont have time to get inside. Hot shot to him (especially in younger age groups) will almost be a routine putout attempt at 1B. If F9 is shallow or shading the line and the ball is smoked to him, your best option is to move into foul ground and keep your eye on the ball. If he's in 'normal' F9 positioning, there's really no reason NOT to bust it in and pivot. Pregame is critical. If you're working with a partner you know and trust, he's going to automatically be moving anyway. He should be prepared to take BR from first on around. A quick glance will tell you everything you need to know. Communication is key. HP should verbalize his intentions. "I've got the runner" Now, be prepared for a partner to be flat footed. If he DOESN'T take the runner, you've Reallygot to bust it to get into the working are on an overthrow. On the other side of the same coin, you as HP should be prepared to move in if your partner gets stranded on this play. Now YOU verbalize your intentions. "I'VE GOT THE RUNNER" So many crews are too quiet out there. It's ok to talk to each other during a play, just to be sure everyone is on the same page. Hope this helps.

The odd part to me is that instead of circling the wagons around our KNOWN brother, the mamby pamby politically correct are siding with not offending an unknown who quite possibly is a scheister that just got nailed. Shame on you ppl. This is EXACTLY why America is so fkd up. CALL A SPADE A GD SPADE. If it hurts their feelings.....THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE CREATED THE SITUATION. OMG! You ppl are sad. Truly fkn sad. And you call yourselves umpires. I would HELP Pinella kick dirt on you. I'm done

There is no BS in my last post or any of my posts. It's a you had to be there situation. As far as the age of the kids, it's Fall Senior league baseball. Catcher made NO attempt to catch the pitches. @Pete Peterson your comment "I had one other word, but I shall refrain from using it, in deference to our lady board members..." I had that said to me from one of the coaches and he was tossed on the spot in that game. He also got suspended for the next two games by the association which results in his earliest return is April next year. I am done discussing this thread. Finally ! An ejection where the coach was right, lol. First, I remember asking a coach to remove a "catcher" because he kept lunging and I was truly worried for his safety. He wasn't replaced until he was hit squarely with a bat on an attempted swing and charged with CO. @ pete peterson sr - bahahahahahahahahahahahahaha :rollinglaugh:

No doubt whatsoever Papelbon is a DB. That doesn't justify assault. Joe let go his professionalism and stooped below himself. If a AAA fill in had done the identical same thing, he'd have probably been fired. I agree with you. But seniority has its privileges. Not that what Joe did was right. It was 100% wrong. But if Kershaw goes out over 4 straight starts and gives up 6 runs and can't get out of the 2nd inning, I guarantee you the Dodgers won't fire him. But if a Triple A call up does it, he probably never gets another shot at the Show.yep

if a runner is forced to leave his base (whichever that may be) as a result of the batter becoming a batter runner, it is a force. If there were no R1, then R2 wasn't forced from his base. If R3 scores before R2 is retired, then yes. The run scores.

There were 359 other degrees of direction he could have taken amd Papelbon would have been the only aggressor. He chose to stand his ground. He did NOT avoid the contact. At that point, he initiated it. Ymmv, but if it does, I'd hate to be on a jury with you.

It's a don't do that type of thing. Not a balk. Ever.

Ok. I must say that I'm pretty shocked that the majority of you condone Joe's action. Should he just stand there and take it? No. Walk away. In a direction OTHER than into the aggressor. Is Papelbon a moron? Absolutely. Was Joe justified in the EJ? Probably. Should he have grabbed JP's jersey? Hell no. If this had happened anywhere but on the ball field, Joe wouldn't DREAM of a physical altercation with a professional athlete. He'd get his old fat ass whipped. Handily. Amazing how bravery multiplies when one is completely protected. Now, I agree with Torre and the one game suspension. Joe knows better. Period.

Well, looks like my 2014 season ended with a whimper. Not even so much as a see ya next season. We have some big capital projects going at work, and my only off days will be Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Tons of overtime and making bookoo denero, but I'd have liked to have a FINAL game. Oh well. It was an ok season. No major malfunctions. Nothing really of note. I guess that speaks well of the game management aspect. I'm going to get all my uniforms dry cleaned, my shoes squared away one last time, and stow my gear in its footlocker. Hope you guys have a good rest of your season.

wow ...... 1-2 pounds per week is considered healthy .... 3-5 in the first week is very feasible .... your calorie intake compared to your exercise is low ....in otherwords, your burning a lot more than you're eatingI'm allowing 2300 per day before exercise. Usually end up with 500-700 uneaten calories. And it's not that I'm doing so well. It's that I was sooooo out of shape.
