umpstu Posted July 31 Report Posted July 31 Just received the new model skull cap from All Star and it fits fine was wondering if anybody was having an issue with their mask harness not staying in place since the skully is a smooth finish? The cap itself looks much better than the previous cap, IMO. 1 Quote
umpintosh Posted July 31 Report Posted July 31 Are you using the All-Star Axis or the new matte umpire cobalt helmet? If your referring to the new one; I'm pretty sure your supposed to be using a harness that has a grippy back (ex; delta flex, ump-life, pretty much any neoprene ones) 3 Quote

It took a little adjustment but has been fine - until yesterday when it once strangely fell off as I looked down. I'm going to play with it and see if I can recreate it. If so, I'm contemplating strategically adding a small piece of rubber to the back of the harness. 1 Quote
Jay R. Posted September 17 Report Posted September 17 I have put a strip of grip tape on the back of skull caps to keep masks from sliding. The black tape on a black helmet is not very noticeable, though I admit the clear tape on a navy helmet is. Quote

Seems to be working, but the helmet itself seems to be kind of large. I wear a 7 3/4 hat and the L/XL helmet seems to slip around. 3 Quote

You've determined your own answer... ... sand the back of your head, and apply some pine tar. 1 3 Quote

Once you get it, use a combination of the XL padding and the large padding to get a better fit. 1 Quote
